Real Madrid will be delighted to hear that superstar Vinicius Jr. will be back in action to help them on the pitch. Already without him on the pitch, Los Blancos have had a great start to the season, winning all six of their opening games.
Madrid may be stacked in the midfield department right now, but they are still understaffed with quality players on the front. With veteran Karim Benzema leaving the club and Kylian Mbappe not joining them, Madrid have had to rely on one man on the frontlines and that is Vinicius Jr. But then he became injured, leaving Madrid in a very precarious situation.
Carlo Ancelotti confirms Vinicius Jr. return
Vinicius Jr. was left on the sidelines, when he was injured in the third La Liga game against Celta Vigo. He had suffered a hamstring injury and was expected to be out for many weeks.
However, yesterday manager Carlo Ancelotti came with some good news. He announced that Vinicius Jr. had in fact fully recovered and will be in the squad for tomorrow’s high velocity clash against Atletico Madrid.
According to Diario AS, “Vinicius? He will be in the squad for tomorrow’s game. We will decide tomorrow if he starts or not.”

However, Ancelotti said whether he starts or not will be seen tomorrow. This is so that they don’t rush him back into action and risk another chance of an injury.
His exact words were, “Vinicius has 100% recovered. We will take no risks with him. He wouldn’t be in the squad for the game otherwise, but we will evaluate the situation again tomorrow.”
While Madrid don’t want to rush the Brazilian youngster back into action, the stakes of the derby clash could require him to participate.
Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid match details
Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are derby rivals, which means every match is an important one. This is another reason why Madrid want Vinicius Jr. to play against them.
Diego Simeone’s men are known to be very defensive and this result in a very hard game for Los Blancos. Someone like Vinicius may be able to break down the heavy defense.
The match is also very significant as it can influence the title race of the two clubs. Madrid is already second in La Liga with 15 points and remain the only team to win all their games in Spain. Girona is above them with one point and one extra game played. A win against a big rival could help them in the long run.
Atletico are currently seventh, eight points behind Real Madrid and having played one less game. They didn’t have the best of starts, winning only two games. Winning a crucial derby against Real could help push them back in the title race.
The much anticipated match will take place at the Wanda Metropolitano on Sunday. Real Madrid will hope to have Vinicius Jr. available to better their chances at winning.
