Carlo Ancelotti is one of the world’s best managers ever in the sport of soccer. He has been at it since 1995, coaching some of the biggest teams in the world, including AC Milan, Juventus, Chelsea, Paris Saint Germain, and Bayern Munich.
The Italian has won a lot of trophies as well, cementing himself as a great manager. Currently in his second stint with Real Madrid, he has achieved success with the team. Despite rumors of his departure, it appears he may have had second thoughts.
Madrid considers extending Carlo Ancelotti’s contract
Carlo Ancelotti has been heavily rumored for the Brazil national team job since the last World Cup in 2022. The Italian manager’s contract with Real Madrid was set to end the following summer in 2024, leading many to believe that he would then be expected to take the reins of the Brazil national squad.
According to Relevo, the 63 year old is going to be offered a new contract by president Florentino Perez, who wants to see the manager extend his stay. Perez who recently criticized UEFA, thinks that Ancelotti is still needed at the club, and a two year deal until June 2026 is on the table.

In the event that Ancelotti does leave, it was thought that Bayer Leverkusen manager and former Madrid legend Xabi Alonso would be his successor, given his impressive performance at the German club. Ancelotti has been instrumental for Real Madrid since joining in 2021, securing the La Liga trophy, the 2022 Champions League, the Spanish Super Cup, and the Copa del Rey last year.
Additionally, he brought the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup trophies to the Santiago Bernabeu. With a brilliant start to the season, leading in the Champions League group stage and second in La Liga, it’s no surprise that Real Madrid would be keen to retain him at the club.
Ancelotti rumored to embrace new challenge with Brazil in 2024
Even though it seems Real Madrid wants him to stay, the Brazilian soccer federation previously stated that they already have an agreement with Carlo Ancelotti to join them when the Copa America 2024 starts. However, Ancelotti himself had previously expressed his desire to retire at Madrid and has consistently avoided questions about the Brazil job.
Fernando Diniz currently leads Brazil but as an interim manager. They have already lost two consecutive games in the World Cup Qualifying against Uruguay and Colombia. They will need to replace him soon if they are to compete in the upcoming Copa America tournament.
It seems that there will be a tug of war between Real Madrid and Brazil for the legendary Carlo Ancelotti in the summer of 2024, with the Italian yet to choose which side he will manage.
