Since signing for Real Madrid from Rennes in 2021, Eduardo Camavinga has been one of Real Madrid’s most consistent players thanks to his versatility on the pitch. Sometimes, the France international can be seen playing left-back, and most times, he’s putting a regular shift in at the middle of the park for Los Blancos.
Sadly, his consistency could be hampered by injury after the 21-year-old returned from the France national team camp with injury. This could spell further doom for Real Madrid, who have already lost Jude Bellingham to injury this season and may yet lose another incredible midfielder in Eduardo Camavinga.
Eduardo Camavinga injury update
Injuries to key players can disrupt the balance of any team, and Real Madrid must pray Eduardo Camavinga’s tests come out promising. The young Frenchman has been one of Real Madrid’s most consistent squad players, and while he doesn’t get much credit for what he does on the pitch, his influence on any role he’s given at the club cannot be underemphasized.
The 21-year-old had been called up to the national team for the current international break for France. However, a knee injury he suffered in training with the national team caused a major scare back in Madrid, who immediately asked for him to be flown to Spain to be checked thoroughly.
According to a video posted by L’Equipe, Camavinga appeared to be in pain as he went down in what looked like a knee injury. However, when his manager approached him, he reportedly told him he was okay, which calmed the initial fears caused by the outlook of the injury.
Fabrizio Romano later claimed that Real Madrid are not taking chances as they’re hoping to get Eduardo Camavinga in Spain as soon as possible to conduct a test of their own on the young Frenchman.
Eduardo Camavinga, who recently signed a new contract at the club until 2029 with a huge release clause of over $1 billion, will hope the extent of his injury is not as severe as initially feared since he wants to continue enjoying a great season in a much more youthful Madrid side.
Jude Bellingham injury update
Any potential long-term injury to Camavinga would hurt Real Madrid, as they’re already dealing with the loss of Jude Bellingham, who suffered a shoulder injury in Real Madrid’s encounter with Rayo Vallecano a fortnight ago. Although the former Borussia Dortmund midfielder saw out the rest of the game, it would later prove to be ill-advised, as he would eventually sit out the club’s next two games against Braga and Valencia.
The shoulder injury has also caused him to be withdrawn from England’s EURO 2024 qualifiers as he looks to regain full fitness in no time.
Bellingham has been Real Madrid’s best player this season, scoring goals for fun, including a two-goal showing in the El Clasico against Barcelona after Real Madrid had gone behind earlier in the game. His heroics drew strong reactions from Erling Haaland, something Bellingham must have gotten used to due to his imperil form in front of goals this season.
According to Carlo Ancelotti, Bellingham would be able to play again after the current international break, which will improve Real Madrid’s chances of reclaiming the top spot from the incredible Girona in La Liga.
