Recent Drew McIntyre interview does not bode well for AEW fans: reviewing the contract situation of the Scotsman

Drew McIntyre’s contract status has been a topic of discussion in the wrestling industry for some time. Many of his fans were concerned during his hiatus from WWE, speculating that he might join AEW after his contract expired. However, McIntyre himself has confirmed that this won’t be the case.

Following WrestleMania 39, Drew McIntyre took several weeks off from WWE. During this time, there were speculations that his contract might have ended, and he could be considering a move elsewhere. Nonetheless, he made a return to WWE at Money In The Bank and has been an active performer since then.

Drew McIntyre does not “plan to be anywhere else”

It was recently reported that Drew McIntyre’s contract would be up by early 2024. However, it is not yet confirmed if he will resign with the Stamford-based promotion. He did not give a specific answer while on his visit to India for Superstar Spectacle either.

Appearing on The Quinn & Cantara Morning show, The Scottish Warrior addressed his contract status and his future in WWE. The 38-year-old superstar said that he would like to focus only on the present and that he has no plans on working anywhere else as of now.

“I focus on the now. I don’t focus on the past, I don’t focus on the future. I focus on the present. No, I don’t plan to be anywhere else. That’s as much as I can say right now”, said McIntyre.

Drew supposedly joining AEW was a huge topic of discussion among fans with some predicting that he could show up in the promotion as Drew Galloway and would quite possibly become one of the company’s top stars. However, it seems unlikely that The Scottish Warrior would switch over to WWE’s rival promotion so quickly.

McIntyre backs his distaste for Jey Uso

McIntyre has made his distaste for Jey Uso known on several occasion. Drew McIntyre has been wary of Jey Uso’s intentions ever since Cody Rhodes brought him over to Monday Night RAW. Jey had previously cost McIntyre a chance at the Universal Championship when he was part of The Bloodline. Therefore, McIntyre doesn’t exactly welcome the former Bloodline member to the red brand.

He even shared a video on Twitter of Jey and his brothers assaulting The Scottish Warrior, using their usual numbers game to their advantage. This was during when Jey was still a part of The Bloodline, which makes sense for McIntyre not trusting Jey Uso. He even faced off against Jey at Monday Night RAW this week, where he emerged victorious. After the match, the former Bloodline member was attacked by The Judgement Day members for apparently rejecting their invitation to join them.

Although it’s clear that Drew McIntyre doesn’t like Jey Uso as of now, things might change in the coming few weeks. Stay tuned for further updates on WWE.
