Recently called up WWE talent pitches idea for Ronda Rousey match

It has been a long time since Ronda Rousey competed in a UFC cage. However, WWE’s Ivy Nile is enthusiastic about challenging the former Women’s Champion in the Octagon. Rousey’s last WWE match was at SummerSlam 2023, where she competed in the first-ever MMA Rules match against Shayna Baszler.

Following Rousey’s decision to conclude her career at SummerSlam, WWE arranged her feud with Baszler. Rousey aimed to feud with her fellow MMA horsewoman to assist her friend in gaining the singles spotlight.

Ronda Rousey has a potential challenger

Ronda Rousey is widely recognized as one of the most accomplished combat sports athletes in history, having achieved great success in both the UFC and WWE. Although she has since moved on from both organizations, current WWE wrestler Ivy Nile has expressed interest in facing Rousey in the ring.

During a recent interview with “Fightful,” Nile was asked about the possibility of having an MMA-style match against Ronda Rousey. Nile responded by saying that while she believes she could hold her own against the former UFC champion in the ring, she thinks they are better off as allies rather than opponents.

“Is Meisha Tate still in the UFC? I think the world of her. I love her. I’m a huge fan of Ronda Rousey too. I think I would do pretty well going toe-to-toe, I think we’re better off as allies,” said Ivy Nile.

After leaving UFC, Ronda Rousey had a few guest appearances for some other promotions, including notable appearances in Ring of Honor, where she teamed up with her friend, Marina Shafir, in an attempt to boost her career. Although she has taken a break from wrestling to pursue other interests and spend more time with her family, it would be fascinating to see her back in the ring for one more match.

Seth Rollins discusses Ronda Rousey’s struggles adapting to WWE

WWE superstar Seth Rollins shared his thoughts on the possibility of UFC fighters transitioning to the world of wrestling. During a conversation with journalist Marc Raimondi, Rollins was asked if he thought a UFC athlete could successfully make the switch to WWE. The 37-year-old responded by expressing doubt that UFC fighters would be able to keep up with the demanding schedule that WWE wrestlers are accustomed to.

“No. They don’t have the stamina for it, man. They don’t fight every single weekend, right? This championship goes everywhere… And [UFC athletes], especially the top stars over there, they’re catered to a certain way. And that’s great. That’s their style. That’s what works for them. I understand that you fight maybe once, or twice a year. You’re crazy if you’re fighting three times a year, you know? But like, to fight over 100 times over a year, make all those towns, still be able to train, still be able to do all the media, like, it’s an exhausting industry,” Rollins said.

Seth Rollins then praised Ronda Rousey for her contributions to professional wrestling but argued that transitioning from the UFC to the WWE would still be difficult for athletes.

He added, “I don’t wanna knock Ronda Rousey because I love Ronda and she did a lot for our industry. For women in our industry. In the fight industry, in general. But it was tough for Ronda. She tried her damnedest and it was hard for her… I’d love for somebody to come over and take a crack if you think you can hang out. But it’s hard.”
