The 33-year-old Mexican driver faced the additional challenge of rumours suggesting that his position at Red Bull was on the verge of conclusion. Despite having a valid contract for the upcoming season, speculations circulated involving various drivers, from Daniel Ricciardo to Lando Norris to Charles Leclerc, who was in discussions with Christian Horner and the team management as potential replacements.
