Max Verstappen, two-time world champion, went on to win the last Sunday’s Hungarian grand prix. The Dutchman took P2 in Saturday’s qualifying and went on to overtake pole-sitter Lewis Hamilton at the start due to his poor reaction time at lights out. Max and his teammate crossed the line at P1 and P3 respectively, making it a Red Bull double podium. McLaren driver Lando Norris crossed the line in P2 from a P3 start making it a very strong weekend for McLaren.

During the podium celebration, Lando Norris accidentally smashed Max Verstappen’s trophy in an attempt to pop the champagne in his signature move. However, little did anyone know that the shattered object was a pricey, delicate artifact with a market value of almost $45,000.

Recent reports state that Max Verstappen would be getting a replacement trophy from the manufacturer itself as it wasn’t his fault.

Herend Porcelain CEO Attila Simon confirmed that Verstappen would receive a replacement for his trophy, which Norris’s carelessness caused to break, though he denied taking responsibility and said: “Max just placed [his trophy] too close to the edge. It fell over, I guess. Not my problem. It’s his!”

He went on to add by saying that making one requires a little more than six months; however, their customers or owners receive lifelong warranties for their products. The trophy in question was handmade and made out of ceramic.

Atilla later said that Max’s Verstappen’s trophy is already in the making. They started work on it when they saw it being publicly broken by McLaren driver Lando Norris.

Later, when the media asked him about who he thought was responsible for the damage done to the trophy, he said: “The teams have to clarify that among themselves. We now have the joyful but also heavy burden of making another trophy.”

P2 finisher Lando Norris went up to the stage for the podium ceremony. After the Dutch anthem was played, he picked up the champagne bottle and banged it on Max Verstappen’s podium to recreate his champagne-popping celebration. Because of this, The prize was thrown overboard as a result of the jerk’s action, and it broke into pieces right away, shocking everyone.

The McLaren driver looked at the trophy a couple of times while spraying champagne but didn’t appear particularly concerned about damaging it. Verstappen himself actually didn’t take it seriously and afterward made jokes about it.
