Jurgen Klopp is leaving Liverpool at the end of the season to take a sabbatical, which is sad news for Liverpool and one they may remember for a long time. This is a manager that has brought the glory days back to Merseyside, even though it took a while, but there’s no denying how many changes Jurgen Klopp has brought to Liverpool.
His exit will rock the team hard, especially considering how long it takes for a team to transition and adapt under a new manager. Despite reports of a job elsewhere in his native Germany, Klopp has maintained his stance on his decision.
Report reveals Jurgen Klopp’s position over Bayern managerial job
Jurgen Klopp’s announcement that he’ll be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season seems to have kicked off an unwanted trend in football, with two other managers in top clubs doing the same thing, although it’s for different reasons than Klopp’s.
Klopp feels he can no longer deal with the pressure and intensity of the Premier League, Xavi is stepping down as Barcelona’s manager because he no longer feels valued, and Thomas Tuchel is apparently saving face by offering to step down on the back of consecutive poor results and reports of him losing the dressing room.
Reports have come out of Germany claiming there may be hope that Jurgen Klopp may be convinced to take up the Bayern Munich job at the end of the season when he leaves Liverpool. However, the German manager’s camp has refuted such claims, maintaining Klopp’s stance on taking a sabbatical before he decides to take up any job in the future.
With Klopp out of the way, several other big names have been outlined to replace Tuchel at Bayern, including former manager Hansi Flick, Zinedine Zidane, and Xabi Alonso, whose team is eight points ahead of Bayern Munich in the German Bundesliga standings.
Ex-Germany international pleads with Jurgen Klopp over next coaching job
With Klopp taking a sabbatical from football, many have been guessing what his next job would be, and a really good guess is that he could take up a national team job with Germany, a sentiment shared by former Chelsea midfielder and Germany international Michael Ballack.
“Of course, in a normal career, one day he would become manager of the German national team; everyone is looking for that,” Ballack said. “He did a great job; he built something really special with his club. He’s now in that position he can make his own decision, he can build his own career.”
“He could train every club in the world; every club would be happy to have him. But he’s a guy who loves consistency, and he has values,” he added.
“He has this calmness not to make quick decisions; he can take ten times longer to pick his move, especially from such a good environment that he has built himself. But we would love it one day because he has this quality; he has this character to symbolise all German attitudes. We need a leader like him. Whenever he’s ready, I think the people and the fans would love it,” Ballack concluded.
