After an injury, Rey Mysterio, now a member of the WWE Hall of Fame, made a remarkable comeback on “WWE SmackDown” tonight. Several months ago, Santos Escobar, who had previously betrayed Mysterio, had been enjoying a reign of supremacy ever since injuring him.
With Mysterio’s return to action, the stage is set for a showdown between the two rivals. The 619 master returns with a warning message for Escobar, indicating that he is ready to face his long-lost adversary with the help of his newfound powers.
Rey Mysterio rips at Santos Escobar
A severe knee injury demanded time off for Rey Mysterio after his encounter with Santos Escobar’s vicious assault. The knee operation put him out of commission for four months, preventing him from competing in major events like Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber.
During the most recent episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Mysterio made a spectacular comeback by interrupting Escobar’s match and delivering a bold message to the Campeon de Chocolate who had betrayed him brutally.
After showing up on crutches, Mysterio shocked everyone by declaring he was healed and teamed up with Carlito to confront Escobar’s gang. Their combined efforts paid off, and Mysterio forewarned Escobar that this was just the beginning of his revenge. In an interview backstage with Kayla Braxton, Mysterio promised Escobar more punishment and expressed his joy at being back.
The Hall of Famer said, “This is a solid team. This is family, familia. And there was no way I was gonna leave Carlito alone today. Even though family is always here and present, this is only the beginning to what’s to come for Santos Escobar. I can’t stand this.”
Due to his return and the sparking of their past conflict, WWE has a great opportunity to stage a spectacular battle between LWO and Santos Escobar in the upcoming WrestleMania 40 event.
LWO and Santos Escobar rivalry explored
Carlito blamed Santos Escobar for helping Logan Paul assault Rey Mysterio on WWE SmackDown after Crown Jewel last year. Because of this, tensions rose inside LWO, and Escobar betrayed Mysterio by hurting the Mask man’s leg. The following week, Escobar announced his departure from LWO and Mysterio.
The Survivor Series was supposed to feature a match between Escobar and Carlito, but Carlito was spared when Dragon Lee replaced him after Escobar’s earlier attack. Plans for a new group led by Escobar, possibly including Dragon Lee, were revealed after his sudden betrayal and the split from LWO. However, Escobar now has Angel, Berto, and Elektra Lopez on his team.
The return of Mysterio derailed Escobar’s intentions, so he unleashed a vicious message on the Hall of Famer in a WWE Instagram video, threatening to terminate his career. He promised to settle their feud for good and warned Mysterio that it was just the beginning.
Santos Escobar noted, “I said it before and I’ll say it again – that was just the beginning. And tonight with you coming back again, I swear to you from the bottom of my heart, I will end you.”
