Over the past few months, Drew McIntyre has been unable to perform in any impactful matches on Premium Live Events of WWE. However, when he finally got the opportunity to showcase his ability at Crown Jewel in front of thousands of people in Riyadh, the Scottish superstar again faced a dreadful loss against Seth “Freaking” Rollins.
Although McIntyre tasted defeat in yesterday’s match, WWE teased an upcoming alliance with a dominating female superstar, which is a positive development.
Rhea Ripley spotted with Drew McIntyre
Drew McIntyre has been brutally defeated by Seth Rollins at WWE Crown Jewel 2023. The Scottish superstar has been determined to win the World Heavyweight Championship from Rollins for the past few months. However, an interesting incident occurred backstage at Crown Jewel as McIntyre was greeted by Judgment Day’s Rhea Ripley.
This wasn’t the first time the Women’s World Champion and the Scottish superstar were seen together; they were previously spotted talking backstage in an episode of Monday Night Raw. Ripley had met Drew McIntyre in that episode to offer him a spot on Judgment Day and even extended her help to defeat Seth Rollins at the WWE Crown Jewel event. Surprisingly, McIntyre declined her offer and chose to fight alone.
Unfortunately, Drew McIntyre couldn’t secure a victory against The Architect in yesterday’s match, which left him shattered and lacking confidence. After the heartbreaking defeat, McIntyre was shown sitting backstage, reflecting on his loss, and it was during this time that Rhea Ripley appeared in front of him. Although The Eradicator didn’t utter a word, she expressed her disappointment through a stern gaze directed at the Scottish superstar.
Seth Rollins beat Drew McIntyre
Seth Rollins successfully retained his WWE World Heavyweight Championship title by contending with Drew McIntyre’s formidable strength in the opening match of the WWE Crown Jewel 2023 event. It was an intense bout between the two men, and it took place in front of a passionate crowd in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with the majority of the audience chanting for the Scottish superstar.
At the beginning of the fight, McIntyre dominated Rollins by using his advantage of size and strength but The Architect was able to manage this unfavorable situation by using his trademark counter-offense. After a few minutes, Seth Rollins was able to take control of the match by stomping McIntyre’s head into the mat. Then he consecutively delivered a Pedigree and a head stomp to the Scottish superstar.
After that McIntyre fell flat inside the ring and resulted in a successful pinfall by Seth Rollins. Thus, Rollins was able to retain his title. This win was his fifth successful title defense on a Premium Live Event. However, for McIntyre, it was another tragic defeat despite performing with his best efforts.
