Dillon Brooks has established himself as a menacing figure on the court, solely aiming to get into the heads of his opponents, while also displaying an admirable character off the court. Despite his past controversies, he has made positive headlines since signing a four-year deal worth $80 million with the Houston Rockets back in July.
Beyond his impressive on-court performance, Brooks has demonstrated the richness of his life outside the court. In an effort to give back to the city he now calls “home,” he has been actively involved in various community projects, with the most recent one evoking emotional resonance.

Dillon Brooks displayed his admirable off-court character this past Wednesday, by hosting and serving a Thanksgiving meal for 150 families at the Fort Bend Boys and Girls Club. Brooks’ commendable action was revealed by a post on X by the Houston Rockets, where Dillon Brooks was seen serving people meals. Brooks who spoke at the event, stressed the importance of such an act, that it’s not all about the on-court tense atmosphere, but all about giving back.
Brooks, whose inspiration for becoming a professional basketball player and giving back to the community stemmed from former NBA player Jamaal Magloire, acknowledged the impact of the former player on his current career status and actions.
Brooks said, “I just remember I used to have a picture of him growing up, he gave me the idea of wanting to be a basketball player and to strive for something more.”
Next for the Houston Rockets will be a partnership with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s G-Unity Foundation and Kroger to host a Turkey Distribution at Toyota Center on November 21, 2023. The franchise’s legends Calvin Murphy and Gerald Green will be in attendance.
The event will be a drive-up-only event, on a first-come, first-serve model, providing one meal per vehicle. However, Dillon Brooks, whose on and off-court abilities have greatly contributed to the franchise during his early stint, will be hoping to achieve more as he still has more years in his contract.
