Roman Reigns claims John Cena’s ‘GOAT-level’ title runs fail in comparison to his 4-year dominance

WWE superstar Roman Reigns has had a significant impact on the world of professional wrestling with his impressive reign as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. Recently, he celebrated crossing the 1300-day mark, making it one of the most exceptional title runs in the history of WWE.

However, in a recent appearance, The Head of the Table took shots at John Cena, a 16-time WWE Champion, and compared his title reign with Cena’s streak. He even demeaned Cena’s entire title achievement.

Roman Reigns talks about John Cena’s WWE Championship wins

The Tribal Chief emerged victorious at WWE Payback 2020 in a triple threat match against Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt for the top prize of the Universal Championship. Since then, he has remained unbeatable and defeated all his challengers, showcasing his dominance in the ring.

During a recent appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Roman Reigns was asked if he had any plans to break the record for the most world title wins in WWE. John Cena, who currently holds the record with 16 title reigns, has recently made references to breaking his own record. Reigns responded to the question, but his answer has not been revealed yet.

“I don’t take anything away from anybody. What John has done, as far as generations come, that is GOAT-level stuff, but for me, it’s always been about quality, not quantity. John has a lot of title reigns, but he doesn’t have a title reign that can compare to what I’ve done in the last four years,” said Roman Reigns.

Reigns emphasized that his focus was on quality rather than quantity. He acknowledged Cena’s impressive accomplishments but also pointed out that Cena’s 16 world title reigns did not compare to his own. His title reign was the longest in the modern era and the 4th longest in history.

“This quality that I’ve put on display, it speaks for itself. The business backs everything that has happened. It’s made this place more lucrative than it’s ever been, it’s made this place attractive. My reign has gone through the most crazy and turbulent time in WWE history. That says a lot. I will always take the quality of this run over going 14, 15, 16 times,” said Roman Reigns.

How many times did Roman Reigns defend his WWE belt?

Roman Reigns holding the title of WWE Universal Champion for a second time was a significant achievement. He has been the champion for more than two years, starting with Payback 2020, where he won a triple-threat match against Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman.

During his reign, Reigns successfully defended his championship title 31 times against noteworthy opponents after unifying it with the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 38. As a result of his impressive feat, he has now surpassed the record for most consecutive championships under his belt since Hulk Hogan’s reign from 1984 to 1987.

Big Dog has held the WWE Universal Championship a record-breaking 32 times. As he enters WrestleMania 40, he looks to defend his title and maintain his reign as the longest of the 21st century and the sixth longest in WWE history.
