The history between Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns dates back about a decade when they debuted on the main roster alongside Dean Ambrose as part of an unstoppable faction known as The Shield. After they disbanded and pursued their separate careers, both stars have risen to the very top of the company.
Since their debut as a group, The Shield was beloved by everyone. After Rollins betrayed his ‘brothers’ and joined The Authority, he faced off against Roman Reigns several times in his career. As of today, both men are the top champions of their respective brands.
Seth Rollins roasts Roman Reigns
Ever since Jey Uso quit The Bloodline and SmackDown entirely, Roman Reigns has not been seen on WWE TV. He has been mostly absent, with having only four title defenses this year. Furthermore, with him being gone for almost two months, fans have become impatient and frustrated with The Tribal Chief’s schedule.
Given his lack of appearances, fans have been complaining about the absence of WWE’s biggest star from the show. After SmackDown went off-air this week, Seth Rollins decided to take a shot at Reigns’ absence, talking about how certain stars have marked their presence on SmackDown lately, such as John Cena, LA Knight and the Universal Champion. However, he stopped and took a pause while mentioning Reigns’ name.
“You got LA Knight! Guys you got the greatest of all time, John Cena! You got the Universal Champio……”, said Seth Rollins after SmackDown went off-air.
This was obviously not-so-subtle shot at The Tribal Chief’s long absence from Friday Night SmackDown. Moreover, after the pause, Seth Rollins looked around with a smirk on his face, and made sure that every fan knew that he was taking a shot at Roman Reigns for being absent from the blue brand for such a long time, despite being their biggest star.
Reigns to defend title at Crown Jewel
Roman Reigns has been working a part-time schedule for a long time now, making only limited title defenses and appearances despite being the top champion of the company and arguably their biggest star. So far, he has only defended his title four times this year. With the main champion of the blue brand being absent for so long, fans have begun to express their frustration with The Tribal Chief’s schedule.
However, it has been recently reported that Reigns would be putting his Universal Championship on the line at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia this year. The event is supposed to take place on November 4, 2023. It’s not yet determined who Roman Reigns will be facing at the event, but his challenger is expected to be revealed in the upcoming weeks. Additionally, he is also reported to be defending his championship at an upcoming live event against former Bloodline member Sami Zayn.
Roman Reigns has been confirmed to return on the 13 October edition of SmackDown. It’s expected that he will begin a new rivalry with his potential challenger at Crown Jewel when he makes his return. Stay tuned for further updates on Roman Reigns and The Bloodline.
