For over 3 years, The Tribal Chief has managed to stay on top of the headlines in the world of professional wrestling. Now, a top AEW star believes that CM Punk is on par with Roman Reigns when it comes to the biggest names in wrestling today.
CM Punk is definitely one of biggest names in professional wrestling, considering his history in WWE. His popularity peaked during his “pipebomb” promos, targeting WWE’s management, especially Vince McMahon. He was infamously fired by the company in 2014 on his wedding day. Since then, he has remained a hot topic in the wrestling world. Fans were all hyped up about his return, however, due to recent controversies surrounding Punk, his popularity gradually fell.
Dax Harwood assesses CM Punk, Roman Reigns star power
Roman Reigns is without a doubt, the biggest box office attraction in the world of professional wrestling. Due to The Bloodline’s top-tier storytelling and weekly drama, Reigns has managed to stay on top of the wrestling world. On the other hand, CM Punk has managed to stay relevant through some controversies and Instagram shenanigans. Some might argue that he is not as relevant as The Tribal Chief these days.
Dax Harwood believes that CM Punk is up there with Roman Reigns in terms of the biggest name in wrestling today:

Current AEW Tag Team Champion and Punk’s close friend, Dax Harwood seems to have no doubt that Punk is on the same level as Roman Reigns these days. According to Harwood, Punk is also one of the biggest names in wrestling today. In a recent interview with Dazn Wrestling, Harwood revealed the following, “Maybe up there with Roman Reigns, the biggest name in professional wrestling today only helps everybody else and the company because it’s bringing more eyeballs to the product and he (Punk) also has something to prove.”
His claims started a heated debate among fans. Majority of the fans argued that Punk is nowhere close to Roman Reigns’ popularity these days. It is definitely a logical reasoning, as Reigns has been the biggest draw in WWE, bringing in millions of people to watch SmackDown every week. As compared to Tribal Chief however, Punk hasn’t been doing so well in AEW.
Current injury status of the “Tribal Chief”
At SummerSlam last weekend, Roman Reigns defeated Jey Uso in the main event of the night. Following their match, it was reported that Reigns had suffered an injury. There has been a new report that provided some update to Reigns’ current condition.
According to Fightful Select, Roman Reigns’ injury is not a back issue. They also reported that the injury isn’t as severe as initially thought, and that it wouldn’t affect any of Reigns’ scheduled appearances. It’s also worth noting that Reigns appeared last week on SmackDown for The Bloodline segment, where he was taken out by Jey Uso with a superkick. This goes to show that his injury isn’t something to worry about. Reigns also isn’t expected to miss this week’s segment at SmackDown as well, where he is supposed to react to the aftermath of Jey Uso seemingly quitting WWE.
The Bloodline drama is at an all-time high with Jey Uso walking out of WWE last week and rumours circulating about a possible match between Jey and Jimmy at Payback. On the other hand, The Usos’ father, Rikishi is also rumoured to make an appearance or be involved with The Bloodline storyline at Payback as well.
