Roman Reigns not defending his Undisputed Universal title resembles Brock Lesnar disappointing WWE fans

Although Roman Reigns has ascended to the very top of WWE after becoming The Tribal Chief, he has adopted a part-time schedule, which is similar to Brock Lesnar’s run as the Universal Champion back in 2017. This means that he will be making only limited appearances despite being the top champion of the company, which disappointed many fans.

Roman Reigns essentially took over WWE in 2020 when he returned to the company after a long period of absence with a heel persona. He proceeded to absolutely destroy everyone in his path, and along with The Bloodline and Paul Heyman by his side, he has been nearly unstoppable for the past 3 years.

Roman Reigns disappoints WWE fans by not defending his Universal title similar to Brock Lesnar

The Tribal Chief is currently on a part-time schedule, similar to Brock Lesnar when he returned from UFC in 2012 or even John Cena. However, this is where the problem lies, Roman Reigns is the current Undisputed WWE Champion. Although he has been making some appearances on SmackDown in the last few months, he has defended his Universal title only twice this year, with the first one being against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 39 and the second being at SummerSlam against Jey Uso.

Despite his limited appearances, Reigns has actually managed to deliver a solid storyline involving The Bloodline this year. We saw the villainous group fall apart when The Usos turned against The Tribal Chief’s tyrannical ways. However, the last recorded appearance of Reigns was almost two months ago on August 11 when Jey Uso seemingly quit SmackDown after laying out The Bloodline. Since then, Roman Reigns hasn’t made an appearance, let alone defend his title in the coming few months.

Fans were clearly unhappy and took to social media platforms to express their disappointment. Here are some of the fan reactions making rounds on the internet.

His extremely rare title defense has disappointed a lot of fans. Many believe that it would take away from the prestige of the championship if it is put on the line for only 2-3 times a year. Fans compared Reigns’ title run to Brock Lesnar’s time as the Universal Champion back in 2017. Despite being on a limited schedule, The Beast Incarnate put his title on the line more than The Tribal Chief, which has left many fans uninterested in the championship itself.

When is Roman Reigns’ upcoming WWE appearance?

Roman Reigns has been making very few appearances on SmackDown lately, with his last appearance being back on August 11. However according to latest reports, The Tribal Chief has been advertised to return on the October 13 edition of SmackDown at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

This would make a bit over two whole months since he last appeared on the blue brand. Currently, there are no big developments in The Bloodline storyline, other than Jimmy Uso seemingly aligning himself with Solo Sikoa and Paul Heyman trying to get him back in the stable.

With Jey Uso on Monday Night RAW and Roman Reigns on a hiatus, many fans have been left wondering what could be next for their storyline. Now that Reigns is confirmed to be returning in October, fans can look forward to the event. Stay tuned for further updates on Roman Reigns and The Bloodline.
