Ronda Rousey criticizes former WWE executive John Laurinaitis in latest memoir: “all-around dirtbag”

Ronda Rousey started her wrestling career in 2018 when she signed with WWE after she made her first debut on WrestleMania 34. Rousey went on to dominate the women’s division for a long time and even earned herself the title of women’s world champion three times.

‘The Rowdy One’ recently took aim at former Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis in her new book, ‘Our Fight’. Rousey went on to criticize the former WWE executive in her latest memoir and even revealed that he was assigned an authoritative position in NXT, which harmed the brand more than good.

Ronda Rousey accuses Laurinaitis’ favors looks over talent in WWE NXT prospects

Ronda Rousey worked under WWE for several years, and recently she shared the backstage shenanigans about how Vince McMahon used an opportunity to take over NXT due to Triple H’s absence. In 2021, Triple H was hospitalized and needed emergency heart surgery. ‘The Game’ was out of action for several months, leading to Mr. McMahon taking charge. Ronda claimed that “Vince’s cronies” used the situation to take control of the NXT brand and in the process, they degraded the brand.

‘Rowdy Ronda’ mainly aimed at John Laurinaitis, who she claimed was an “all-around dirtbag”. She said, “John Laurinaitis, a former wrestler turned WWE executive and all-around dirtbag, ended up running NXT. He looked and acted like an entitled sixty-year-old former frat boy. Whereas Triple H looked for talent and potential in NXT prospects, it appeared John Laurinaitis looked for f*ckability. Laurinaitis was only a symptom of what was wrong within WWE”.

According to Rousey, Laurinaitis fired wrestlers over 25 years old and started recruiting potential wrestlers from the Universities of Florida and Tennessee instead of the indie circuits. Wrestlers like Road Dogg, Samoa Joe, and many more were forced to leave the company after the management changed. Ronda even said that in the end, Mr. McMahon himself blamed John Laurinaitis for the brand losing its value.

WWE’s management policies under scrutiny after Rousey’s comments

Ronda Rousey parted ways with the Stamford-based company last year and she started wrestling on the independent circuit in October 2023. Rowdy’s autobiography, ‘Our Fight’, explained that WWE is an “absolute s*** show” and that she will never return to such a toxic company.

The first UFC women’s bantamweight champion said, “I don’t need anything from them, and I don’t intend on going back, so I can actually say everything that I think and feel, where everybody else that is still held captive by their organization cannot”. She further added that most editors in WWE stopped them from taking a detour from their script and that she was unable to speak the truth about John Laurinaitis and Bruce Prichard.

Ronda mainly blamed the former Chairman of WWE, Vince McMahon, as he was the person running almost everything within the company. Vince failed to stop this corruption in the company and even accelerated it indirectly. Her hatred for the former TKO board member became clear as she called him double-faced, one in front of the camera and another away from the camera.

Interestingly, Rousey’s comment on the direction WWE was currently walking on caused a big ripple for the company and some even speculated that the ‘Number 1’ promotion will likely change some of their future storylines due to her comment on the current state of WWE.
