Liverpool will have to make big decisions this summer, with a great change expected in the club. The Reds will lose legendary manager Jurgen Klopp after the end of this season, as he has made the decision to finally leave them after 8 and half years of service.
This has led them to start their search for a new manager for next season, and they have to carefully select who will succeed Klopp. Furthermore, they will also have to make transfer decisions regarding players this summer as well.
Liverpool reportedly reaches agreement with Ruben Amorim
One of the contenders and favorites for the managerial job is Ruben Amorim, the current manager of Sporting CP. He has earned much interest from foreign clubs in recent years, winning the Portuguese league with his team in 2021, and can win it again this season. He is said to have rejected previous approaches from the likes of Aston Villa, Chelsea and Tottenham. The Reds had been interested in him for quite some time now after Klopp announced his decision to leave.
The Portuguese manager has already said that his future at Sporting isn’t guaranteed, and he may explore options. Liverpool are said to have held talks with him, and according to the Mirror a verbal agreement has already been reached. Some reports suggest a 3 year deal has been agreed and will be signed once the current season ends. However, terms with Sporting regarding the termination of his current contract is still ongoing.
Liverpool’s first choice was Bayer Leverkusen and former club legend Xabi Alonso. But the Spaniard has said he will stay at the club for now. Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi was also an option, but is wanted by many other clubs as well.
Amorim is said to be playing a style of soccer very similar to Klopp, and was previously mentored by Jose Mourinho himself. He is a rising managerial talent who could herald a new era at the club.
Liverpool to receive big offer from Saudi in Summer
Mohamed Salah is reportedly close to leaving Liverpool this season. Clubs from Saudi Pro League have chased the player last summer, with a reported ÂŁ150 million rejected. They are now ready to try again, with Al Ittihad attempting to sign him again. An offer of ÂŁ70 million is reportedly being prepared to be sent to the Reds for Salah’s signature. Al Hilal are also expected to rival them for the player. The Egyptian will also be given a huge salary, as well as many benefits.
The 31 year old has only one year left on his contract, and Liverpool may want to cash in on him now. However, the player is said to want to stay at the Merseyside club and challenge for more trophies. Liverpool have already identified a possible replacement if Salah leaves. Whether the transfer happens or not remains to be seen after the summer.
For now, Liverpool will focus on their next game, which is against Atalanta in the Europa League quarter finals on Thursday.
