With relation to their veteran receiver Russell Gage, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receivers room was assaulted with poor luck. The Bucs may be without their third wide receiver for the remainder of the campaign.
Among 12 wide receivers on the roster, the Bucs are expecting a great future with Gage whom they acquired last season. But just like his first season with them when he was subjected to lingering injury issues, this season is also shaping up to be a poor one for him as he has already suffered some injuries.
Russell Gage’s injury update
On Wednesday, the Buccaneers and New York Jets conducted a combined practice that was cut short by Russels’ terrible injury. According to reports, the receiver went down with what seems to be a significant injury and sustained a non-contact injury. After falling, the 27-year-old was unable to bear any weight on his leg. Having been inspected by the Buc’s medical staff, he was later carried off the field.
The wide receiver will have to go through testing to determine the extent of the injury, although he is now anticipated to miss the 2023 season. Coach Todd Bowles said that he suffered a “pretty serious” injury when backpedaling during 7-on-7 drills following the joint practice with the New York Jets. In response, Todd said they were praying for him while they awaited confirmation of what had transpired.

“We hear it’s going to be pretty serious, and I’ll wait to hear the final results. I can tell by the way that he was sitting on the truck that it was probably something that happened pretty bad. Our hearts go out to him, and we’ll see how it goes.”
Who can fill the WR void left by Russell Gage?
The Tampa Bay squad got into trouble over the depth of their receivers after Gage’s injury. There are 12 receivers among the 90 players on the Bucs roster at the moment. Yet Mike Evans and Chris Godwin are the only well-known figures in this situation on whom they can rely.
The Buccaneers might choose to replace the 27-year-old if he is forced to miss the season with David Moore, Deven Thompson, Trey Palmer, Kaylon Geiger, and Deven Thompkins.
Last offseason, the Buccaneers signed the veteran and gave him a three-year contract. Because of his injuries, Russell was unable to play the entire game. The receiver made 13 appearances and caught 51 passes for 426 yards and 5 touchdowns.
Till now it seems his injury is going to ruin his stat for this season also. Stay tuned for the latest update on his injury.
