The New York Jets were expected to be a force to be reckon with last season owing the presence of promising stars like cornerback Sauce Gardner. The inclusion of Aaron Rodgers injected a much-needed boost in the team’s offensive side. However, A-Rod’s season-ending injury seemingly dismantled their hopes as they lost the track on the midway.
Off the field, Gardner remained a hot topic of discussion for his infamous encounter with Stefon Diggs nephew and his LeSauce antics. The popular social media figure has now found himself in the midst of a cyber-security ordeal.
Sauce Gardner warns fans of his potential vulgar photo leak
Sauce Gardner discovered that his Snapchat account had been compromised by a hacker. He revealed that someone had accessed his account and was sharing old images without his consent.
The CB appeared unfazed by the intrusion, but he expressed concern about the potential exposure of personal memories stored in the Snapchat cache from his college days. He recounted receiving direct messages containing pictures from his college days, showcasing his disbelief at the invasive nature of the cyber intrusion.
“Somebody just DM’d me sending pictures from my snap when I was in college..People be so weird around the world lol. Some of y’all really need help”, Gardner wrote.
The young star later disclosed that the hacker had extended their reach beyond Snapchat, breaching his Twitter, Instagram, and email accounts. He took decisive action, purchasing a new phone and number to regain control.
Snapchat suspended the compromised account, but the 23-year-old player lamented that the hacker continued to create burner accounts. He said the intruder persistently shared the same content under his tweets. He urged caution by advising his followers to be vigilant about the links they click, emphasizing the increasing sophistication of cybercriminals.
On the field, Sauce Gardner showcased a stellar performance this past season with 57 tackles, 11 passes defended alongside a forced fumble. He also earned accolades as a Pro Bowler as well as first-team All-Pro for the second back-to-back year.
NFL fans ridicule Sauce Gardner for his weak password
Sauce Gardner’s incident serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by public figures when it comes to safeguarding their personal information. However, NFL fans wasted no time in poking fun at him saying he kept a basic password that led to his id being hacked.
A fan wrote, “lol dudes password was “password123”’
Platforms like Snapchat, where the breach occurred, routinely advise users to strengthen their passwords. They also urge users to enable two-factor authentication (2FA) to mitigate the risk of unauthorized access. Some users questioned why the CB had not implemented additional security measures such as 2FA.
A user wrote, “What happened to two factor authentication?”
Some acknowledged 2FA’s occasional inconvenience but stressed its effectiveness in preventing hacking and unauthorized account access.
A netizen wrote, “Also, make sure you have 2-factor authentication (2FA) turned on. It’s annoying sometimes but can save you from getting hacked or accounts stolen. Changing passwords alone isn’t enough.”
