Ramos can proudly say he has played with some of the best in the sport, and in particular with two soccer greats named Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Fans often fight over which one is the true GOAT of the sport, and now Ramos has given his opinion on the eternal question as well.
Sergio Ramos picks Lionel Messi over Cristiano Ronaldo
Sergio Ramos is one of the few individuals in soccer to boast of playing with both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Surprisingly, he chose the former ahead of the latter when pressed about the GOAT question. This has caused some chaos in the soccer community, which cannot believe the Spaniard’s choice.
It was during his Paris Saint Germain days that he seemingly confirmed his choice, “There was suffering for several years playing against Messi. I am now enjoying him. He is the best player football has ever produced.” Though he did not directly state that Messi is better than Ronaldo, his comments sort of confirm that.

The choice is rather surprising considering that Ramos spent the better part of his career with Ronaldo at Real Madrid. Both are considered legends there, and they won everything for them. Ramos also used to regularly clash with Messi during their El Clasico fixtures with Barcelona, during which both often got involved in heated arguments.
Ramos and Messi later shared the same dressing room together at PSG, and it seemed that their old, fierce rivalry died there. His choice of Messi over Ronaldo is still bugging many fans who believe he has betrayed one of his best teammates, the Portuguese superstar. That is not the only thing in which he has disappointed his former Real Madrid fans.
Ramos, Messi and Ronaldo nominated for Super Ballon d’Or
There is another connection between Sergio Ramos, Lionel Messi, and Cristiano Ronaldo. The trio has been nominated for an award named the Super Ballon d’Or. The award is given out by France Football, the same organizers that give out the prestigious Ballon d’Or award every year.
The Super Ballon d’Or is a very exclusive award that is given out every 30 years. The only winner of the award was in 1989, when it was given to Real Madrid legend Alfredo Di StĂ©fano. The award is expected to be given out again in 2029 and will determine the best soccer player of the last 30 years.

It is surprising to see Sergio Ramos nominated, as he has never won the Ballon d’Or. The favorites will be between Messi, who has 8 and was the most recent winner last year, and Ronaldo, who has five.
