Sergio Ramos is one of the greatest defenders of the last generation, and he has been an example to the new ones as well. He is most known for his contributions to Real Madrid, for whom he spent 16 years defending the royal badge. As he was their captain as well, he deeply loves the club.
However, he had to leave in 2021 and is now back in La Liga after a brief stint with Paris Saint-Germain. He returned to boyhood club Sevilla and is now at odds with his former fans due to an unexpected act.
Sergio Ramos under fire for skipping autographs on Real Madrid jersey
A recent video of the defender has gone viral on social media and has earned him much backlash from Real Madrid fans. He was seen driving in his car before stopping to sign some jerseys for fans, which included Sevilla and Paris Saint-Germain jerseys. But when a fan came with a Real Madrid jersey, he refused to sign it, instead moving on to other jerseys.
This made the former Madrid captain earn some harsh words from fans initially who were angry with this snub. But the Spaniard himself explained the decision later. He explained on X that he had actually signed other Real Madrid shirts before the snub.
He said, “Before that moment I had already signed about 6 @realmadrid shirts. And then there are people who auction them or sell them on the Internetā¦”
It is common for some people to make famous athletes sign memorabilia and other items so that they can sell them later for big sums. Clearly, Ramos didn’t like being taken advantage of and refused to let it continue.
Ramos also previously distanced himself with Madrid fans after clashing with Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger when they faced each other earlier this season.
How many trophies has Sergio Ramos won with Madrid?
Sergio Ramos has been one of the most faithful servants to Real Madrid, playing there for 16 seasons. He has captained them since 2015 and has lifted a lot of trophies for them. He is often called one of their best ever captains and players.
The Spanish center back has won five La Liga trophies, 2 Copa del Rey trophies, and 4 Supercopa de Espana trophies domestically. He also played a major part in the European domination of the team. Together with the team, he won 4 UEFA Champions League trophies, with him lifting 3 of them as captain in the three peat era. Additionally, he has won 3 UEFA Super Cup trophies and 4 FIFA Club World Cup trophies internationally.
Sergio Ramos scored the famous late equalizing header in the 2014 UCL final against Atletico Madrid, which they later won 4-1. He also scored in the 2016 UCL final, again against Atletico Madrid.
The legendary captain eventually left the club in 2021, after contract complications. He is now at Sevilla, who are now in 13th position in the league. He will now prepare for his next game for Sevilla against Real Sociedad on November 26 after the international break ends.
