At this point, it is pretty much clear that Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton won’t have a jovial friendship. Mercedes and Red Bull, too, are fierce rivals in the sport, considering the shift in power dynamics that has occurred in recent years in the sport.
The recent pace struggles of Mercedes seemed to make Lewis Hamilton quite frustrated because he has demanded Mercedes make ample amount of changes to their car. He surely wants to compete at the top and for that, he has set a very huge goal for the team to accomplish.
Hamilton demands extraordinary car development from Mercedes
Hamilton did not shy away from accepting the huge gap between the Red Bulls and his team when he said that they needed to make a lot of radical changes to the car in order to make it competitive for the frontline again.
“I have no idea where the car is going to be next year, but we’re a long, long way away,” he answered SKY.
“We’ve got to hope for the next six months to be the greatest six months of development that we’ve ever had to close that gap and to be really banging on the door.”
Lewis also cited McLaren’s recent surge in performance as an example; he completely believed that Mercedes could easily accomplish the very same through their world-class engineers.
“We’ve got to hope for the next six months to be the greatest six months of development that we’ve ever had to close that gap and to be really banging on the door.”
Mercedes struggles to narrow gap with Red Bull
Last year when the British team W13 finally won a race it seemed like they were finally going to compete for the championship in 2023, but we were disappointed from the race pace and qualifying performances of the W14 just like it’s predecessor.
They were relatively competitive this season with hints of performance and brilliant execution, although none of those initial starts culminated in a race win. Red Bull had hit their during the Singapore GP and Mercedes was highly competitive in the street circuit. Disaster struck again when they entered Japan because again Mercedes couldn’t stay up to the mark.
Red Bull seems to get ahead of Silver Arrows in every aspect and their performance gap keeps increasing with every race. Mercedes have a lot of plans but they plans can’t come to fruition without a realistic goal. They need to learn from the situation this year and finally get up to the mark before they can’t think about competing in front.
