Having surrendered his dominance to Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton is actively seeking ways to match up to his performance. Despite experimenting with various strategies, none have proven significantly impactful.
Interestingly, the British driver has been observed frequently studying other drivers’ cars with a curious gaze. This behavior, rather than a mystery, reveals intentions to take notes and gather insights for enhancing the performance of his W14 car.
Hamilton shares strategy to improve Mercedes W14
The seven-time World Champion faced significant mechanical issues with the W14 this season and, hence, wanted to improve the car’s condition within the last two years of his career. Hamilton has disclosed that he has occasionally captured “snapshots” of each Formula One car as part of the strategy to improve his current vehicle.
The British driver went to the extent of examining small details like the floor of Daniel Riiciardo’s Alpha Tauri, despite the team ending up in the eighth position of the constructors’ championship. After noting some valuable points about Riciardo’s car components, Hamilton provided feedback to his aerodynamics engineer, Jarrod Murphy.
The Mercedes driver also emphasized his consistent communication with Murphy, ensuring that Mercedes is actively working towards constructing an improved car in the next season, as promised by Hamilton in an interview. Both the drivers of Mercedes team have encountered difficulties adapting to aerodynamic regulation changes in the past two years.
Hamilton has also promised to provide a heated challenge for Mercedes in the next two remaining years of his life, warning them of their powerful comeback in 2024.
