Shaquille O’Neal has once again stepped into the media spotlight, this time to advocate for the Hall of Fame induction of his friend and former teammate, Robert Horry. As a prominent figure in the world of basketball, Shaquille O’Neal has solidified his status as a legend of the game. He is widely recognized for his role as a sports analyst on TNT’s ‘Inside the NBA’ show and for his partnership with co-host Charles Barkley.
Shaq has joined the likes of Kobe Bryant, Hakeem Olajuwon, and Rudy Tomjanovich in calling for Robert Horry to be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
Shaquille O’Neal vouches for Robert Horry’s HOF induction
Shaquille O’Neal has vouched for Robert Horry to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. He had expressed his support for Horry through a post on X. Shaq posted a photo featuring a collage of Robert Horry’s career highlights. The collage also featured a template that read, “Should Robert Horry be in the Hall of Fame?”
Shaq posted the photo with a reply to that exact question; he wrote in the caption, “The answer is HMF YES, and yes l am yelling.” Big Shaq clearly expressed his excitement and enthusiasm while answering that question. He and Robert Horry were teammates on the Los Angeles Lakers from 1998 to 2003.
During that time, they won three consecutive NBA championships, and most of the members of that team have been inducted into the Hall of Fame, including Shaq and Kobe. Horry remains one of the few members who haven’t been inducted despite being a key player and a big contributor to the team at the time.
Robert Horry once said to want seven titles over HOF induction
Robert Horry was invited to the Dan Patrick show, where he was asked about his NBA championship rings and the possibility of a Hall of Fame induction. Horry unambiguously stated that he would prioritize his championship titles over a Hall of Fame induction. Dan Patrick then posed a hypothetical question, asking whether he would prefer being a Hall of Famer if it meant he had to relinquish the seven NBA titles he won.
Horry replied to the question cleverly and said, “I would really have seven titles because at the end of the day Hall of Fame doesn’t give you anything for work. There are people in the Hall of Fame that you don’t even know who they are. I don’t care about the Hall of Fame even though I should be in it, I don’t care.”

He further added to his answer by saying, “ It’s a team sport I have done some things a lot of players would never do, I have done things that only a few players have done. There are so many things that I have done in the NBA, my teammates love me. I had a great career man, the Hall of Fame is something that all my friends and family think I deserve but I would still take the seven rings any day over one ring Hall of Famer.”
