Shaq often teases his co-host and NBA icon Charles Barkley on the show “Inside the NBA,” and the teasing grows even more when they are not together. Recently, Shaq posted a video on his official Instagram where he took a jab at Chuck. The video featured two men arguing over something in a place that looked like a parking lot.
Things seemed to heat up between the two men when one man swung at the other and slapped him very hard. The post was accompanied by a caption that said, “This is how I’mma do Charles Barkley in 2024. These are just jokes; let’s love each other in 2024.” The post was meant as a New Year wish for Chuck, but many fans were reminded of the time the two NBA icons had a big feud.

Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley had a significant feud during their time as players in the NBA. Back in 1999, almost 24 years ago, the now-friendly panelists had a physical altercation. The situation became so serious that the mothers of both Shaq and Chuck had to get involved to resolve the matter.
According to PEOPLE magazine, Shaq spoke about the feud and reportedly said, “I and Charles fought, he hit me in the head with the ball… And I was like, ‘Charles I respect you but now I have to knock you out.’ So I lunged with the left, I wanted him to come on the inside, but he went on to the outside, grabbed me, pulled me onto the ground.”
Shaquille O’Neal then talked about how he received the call from Charles’ mother with his mother on the line. He reportedly said, “So it was two-way with my mom and Charles Barkley’s mom… And I was like, ‘Hello?’ and she said, ‘This is Charles’ mom and your mom is on the phone too.’ I was surprised and said, ‘Yes ma’am, how are you?’ She said, ‘You all need to stop. I have already talked to Charles. He is going to meet you in the hallway. You all need to stop and hug. You all are two of the greatest players in the world, we do not want you fighting in front of the kids, stop that.“
He was taken back by the call and made up with Barkley afterward in the hallways as instructed by their moms. Shaquille O’Neal has some of the craziest stories he likes to talk about, he once revealed his reaction when he got to know that he was missing $250,000 from one of his businesses.
