In a nail-biting matchup at AEW Dynasty tonight, Thunder Rosa and Toni Storm fought for the AEW Women’s World Championship. Their incredible talents in the ring were on full display throughout the intense bout. To further heat up the headlines after the bout, Toni Storm made a daring step by criticizing Nicole Garcia in the post-fight interviews for her decision not to join AEW.
Nikki Bella shocked fans last year when she left WWE, and she recently stated her interest in joining AEW before deciding against it. In an unexpected and atypical move, the Hall of Famer later decided to prioritize her family and son over a meeting with the president and CEO of WWE’s rival promotion AEW, Tony Khan.
Bella’s preference was met with strong disapproval from the AEW Women’s World Champion. During the post-PPV media frenzy, Toni Storm made headlines as she slammed Nicole Garcia’s decision. She called out Nikki by saying, “Nicole Garcia thought about joining AEW when she saw Mercedes did. You know why she didn’t? Because then she saw me and realized she can’t hold a p*****-scented candle to what I do.”
When the Bella sister first indicated interest in joining AEW, Tony Khan kept the door open for her to join the Jacksonville-based promotion, even though she later changed her mind.
Tony Khan was ready to welcome Nikki Bella at AEW
Recently, Nikki Bella hinted that she and her sister Brie would wrestle for AEW soon once her son Matteo gets a little older because they think they have one more run left in them. Upon learning about Nikki Bella’s desire to join the Jacksonville-based promotion, Tony Khan voiced his delight about bringing her to his roster during a recent chat on the Battleground Podcast.
Khan said, “If Nikki Garcia ever wanted to come into AEW, I would be very interested in that. I think the world of her. I have so much respect for Nicole and Bri. They’re like family to us because Bryan is like a part of my family, and that means Bri and Nicole part of the family. ”
