The former WWE Champion Sheamus is currently been sidelined for more than half a year due to a shoulder injury. Known for his participation in some of WWE’s most brutal and intense matches, the Celtic Warrior has secured numerous championships and accolades throughout his career.
Sheamus, known for his outspoken personality, is no stranger to controversy outside the WWE. Recently, his reply to a WWE fan created buzz on social media, who criticized his performance quality in WWE matches.
Sheamus claps back at fan for choosing storyline over 5-star matches
Having been a part of the company for more than 15 years, Sheamus has built a reputation for delivering top-notch matches to the WWE Universe since his debut. Consistently impressing WWE fans with his athleticism and distinctive moves, he recently posted a tweet on his Twitter account that read, “Anyone missing 5-star banger matches? #MOTY2021 #MOTY2022 #MOTY2023.”
Sheamus took to Twitter to ask his fans if they missed his “5-star banger matches” that he was known for before his injury. Over the past three years, Sheamus has consistently appeared in WWE’s best matches of the year. However, a random WWE fan unimpressed with his tweet responded, “Nope, I’ll choose characters and stories over 5-star matches any day of the week.”
The fan implied that Sheamus was lacking in those aspects, and that his matches were boring and irrelevant. Sheamus did not take this insult well and retorted by saying, “Then go watch a soap opera.”
A soap opera is a type of television or radio drama that tells a continuous story about the lives of a group of characters. Soap operas often deal with topics such as family, romance, business, crime, and social issues. This exchange sparked a debate among wrestling fans, with some siding with Sheamus and some siding with the fan.
When will Sheamus return on WWE television?
The Celtic Warrior has been hinting at a return via social media ever since his injury. He’s been actively updating his fans on his progress through posts featuring videos and photos of his rehabilitation and training. Sheamus has been absent from WWE television since August 2023, when he faced Edge in his farewell match, before debuting in AEW as Adam Copeland.
During the match, Sheamus injured his shoulder, that required surgery and a lengthy recovery period. Sheamus was expected to join the road to WrestleMania 40, by making a surprise return in Royal Rumble 2024, but he didn’t make the move.
In last years WrestleMania, he came closer to dethrone Gunther in a triple threat match with Drew McIntyre but failed shortly. He has also been posting cryptic messages and photos that hint at his desire to challenge Gunther again for the Intercontinental title.
Still there is no official announcement regarding his in ring return, the WWE fans are anticipately waiting for the Warrior’s comeback.
