Carlos Sainz expressed his dissatisfaction with the way the media depicted his relationship with Charles and their team dynamics. According to Carlos Sainz, the media creates an unrest among the fanbase and he personally never had any problems working with teammate, Charles Leclerc

“It’s pretty clear on our contracts. And on our driving that the number 1 priority is Ferrari. You put Ferrari first, everything else comes after”, he commented.

Charles Leclerc acknowledges struggles with Ferrari SF-23

In 2022, Ferrari experienced a spectacular start to the season, thanks to Charles Leclerc securing consecutive wins and pole positions for the team. He even engaged in a thrilling battle with Max Verstappen throughout the first half of the season. However, this year, he has been unable to replicate that same level of performance due to Ferrari’s underwhelming performance. Surprisingly, he has been outperformed by his teammate, Carlos Sainz, and is yet to secure a victory.

Charles did not disagree however that he has been in a far worse form than 2022 and admitted to the various struggles he was facing within the SF-23 car this year.

“I mean, I’ve always been challenging the rear, a lot…and definitely too much at some points at the beginning of the season. But it’s something that I hate to find excuses for, in a way. In the end, I am the driver, I am the one setting up the car. And this was my choice to have such a strong front at the beginning of the season when maybe the car couldn’t handle it because it was inconsistent”, he spoke to The Race.

“So, at the end, it’s still from me. Those mistakes, I know exactly why they arrived. And why it happened. And this is the most important because then you learn from it for the rest of the season.”
