Roman Reigns set to defend WWE title at Royal Rumble
Royal Rumble is one of the most anticipated events of WWE that fans wait to watch every year, as each time a new superstar rises, he later has his Road To WrestleMania moment after winning the event match. Former Royal Rumble winner Roman Reigns had his big moment in 2015 when he won the Royal Rumble match at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. So it is undeniable that the event holds a lot of meaning for the Big Dog.
In the latest episode of SmackDown Live, Nick Aldis, the General Manager of the Blue brand informed Paul Heyman that Roman will have a Fatal 4-way match against Randy Orton, LA Knight, and AJ Styles in the January 27 event of Royal Rumble.
The New Year’s Revolution SmackDown event already had a match scheduled between Randy Orton and LA Knight along with AJ Styles, where all three superstars would face each other in the main event, and the winner at the end would have a title shot match against the ‘Head of the Table’ in the Royal Rumble.
The Triple Threat main event was intense, as all three superstars had a score to settle with Reigns, and as the match was underway, ‘The Bloodline’ interfered midway through and started attacking all three superstars. It was later decided that the January 27 event would be a fatal four-way match for the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship.
Royal Rumble match card explored
The Royal Rumble is only three weeks away. WWE has officially confirmed some matches for the upcoming event, and some are still being officialized. The confirmed matches are:
Roman Reigns (c) vs. LA Knight vs Randy Orton vs AJ Styles – Undisputed Universal Title Match
The Fatal 4-way match will be for the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship. Superstars like ‘The Viper’ Randy Orton vs. ‘Phenomenal One’, AJ Styles vs. ‘The Megastar’, and LA Knight vs. ‘The Tribal Chief’ Roman Reigns, will face each other for the upcoming title match.
Men’s Royal Rumble match
The Royal Rumble match is modeled after the traditional Battle Royal match, in which thirty wrestlers compete against one another and attempt to remove opponents from the ring by tossing them outside, over the rope, and with both feet touching the ground.
The ultimate victor of the competition emerges as the sole remaining superstar, outlasting all other wrestlers who have been eliminated. Many high-profile celebrities are expected to participate in the event, with Cody Rhodes and CM Punk being the top contenders that fans are rooting for to emerge victorious in the 30-man competition.
Women’s Royal Rumble match
