Over the years, we have seen Russell Wilson compete with some of the best in business and light up the league with his scintillating performances. In the last couple of seasons, however, his age seems to have caught up with him, and the 25-year-old QB was ultimately traded from the Broncos to the already struggling Pittsburgh Steelers.
As he looked to leave Denver and start a new chapter in the twilight of his illustrious career, Russell Wilson faced another challenge in selling his massive property. Reports suggest that he managed to offload it to an anonymous buyer but at a hefty loss. Let’s find out more about the problematic sale.
Russell Wilson loses $21.5 million selling his Denver mansion
When the Denver Broncos managed to land Russell Wilson back in 2022, everyone was of the opinion that Wilson was a much-needed addition to the squad. However, as it turned out, injuries and small niggles kept him away from the game, and eventually, he became a shadow of his former self.
Before the start of the 2024–25 season, the Steelers acquired Wilson’s services, which meant that the 35-year-old had to move away from his $25 million mansion that he bought in Denver. However, as is the case with all hasty property dealings, Russell Wilson was only able to sell it at a loss of almost $3.5 million.
Russell Wilson unlikely to be Steelers’ QB1 after training camp
As the Pittsburgh Steelers gear up for the upcoming season, all of their hopes will be pinned on the experience and tutelage of Russell Wilson. However, from the looks of the situation, it is unlikely that Wilson will be their first-choice quarterback come the opening week.
According to FOX News, NFL Analyst Adam Schefter was of the opinion that Wilson is very close to falling down the ranks after his lackluster showing in the training sequences in pre-season.
Schefter said, “There’s no commitment, obligation, loyalty to any of these guys. They didn’t pay much for either one of them. I even had an executive say if Justin Fields outplayed him, Russell Wilson, during training camp, they could see them moving on from him before the season.”
