Stephen A. Smith left Knicks players catching strays after his “I am a bigger star” claim

Playing in one of the most famed arenas in the world, the New York Knicks have been unable to create any dents against their fellow competitors in the Eastern Conference. Their lackluster squad forced NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith to make the outrageous statement which left the Knicks’ squad catching strays.

Stephen A. Smith took shots at the New York Knicks roster after he made a huge statement exclaiming that he was a bigger personality than most of the players on the Knicks.

Stephen A. Smith claims he is “a bigger star than most of Knicks”

In his show where he analyzed the Knicks’ recent trade moves, Stephen A. Smith made an argument that he was a bigger star than the players on the New York Knicks. Speaking to former Warriors’ executive Bob Myers, Smith argued that there was a deficiency of an outright superstar who could lead the Knicks in games.

Smith said, ”Do you realize that a legitimate argument could be made right now that Stephen A. Smith is one of the biggest stars in New York? That’s a damn shame.”

“I’m a bigger star than most of the New York Knicks,” Smith added

Furious after the Knicks’ lack of interest in signing a superstar, the famed analyst blasted the Knicks for not making any significant trades that would radically make them a contender in the Eastern Conference.

While Smith’s statements maybe over the top, there is no denying in the fact that there is an absence of a player who is dominant enough to spearhead the Knicks. While Jalen Brunson is an amazing player for the Knicks, it is quite evident that Brunson has been struggling to operate without a functional supporting cast. Stephen A. Smith, through his striking statements essentially called forward the Knicks to make moves that would bring about a star to play ball alongside Brunson.

Smith lightly applauded Knicks’ efforts in landing elite defensive star OG Anunoby but asserted that it was not enough in order to compete with the giants of their conference.

Stephen A. Smith wants Donovan Mitchell at Knicks

While criticizing the Knicks for not making any exceptional moves to bolster squad strength, Stephen A. Smith made his choice suggesting and demanding that the Knicks sign a specific player at all costs.

Smith seemed dissatisfied with the O.G. Anunoby trade but still agreed that the player was a great fit for the team considering his positive attributes and elite defensive skills. However, according to Smith, that one trade isn’t enough for the Knicks to compete with the higher teams in the Eastern Conference.

To cope with the championship teams, Stephen A. demanded the Knicks to immediately trade for Donovan Mitchell with the eight first-round picks available to the team from New York.

The player suggested is not that bad after all for the Knicks. Considering Mitchell’s impressive attacking abilities, it may just be the right spark the Knicks have been looking for. Along with Brunson, the potential inclusion of Mitchell gives the Knicks much needed variety and options for plays while also providing them a reliable star that can knock down shots from distance.

While Anunoby will provide optimum spacing and crucial perimeter defense, the back-court duo of Donovan Mitchell and Jalen Brunson can help the Knicks attack the rim from multiple fronts, eliminating the exhaustion of Brunson that they currently rely on.

Speaking on Mitchell, Smith said, “I’m not moved. Go out and get Donovan Mitchell. You got eight first-round picks available to you, use a couple dammit. Get him.”

While it is doubtful that the Knicks will pay any attention to the analyst’s remarks, they could certainly benefit from the trio of Brunson, Anunoby and potentially Mitchell. The move would most certainly make the Knicks competitors in the East, a position they are far away from at this moment.
