Stephen A Smith’s Zion Williamson criticism draws strong backlash from the Pelicans

Stephen A Smith recently made the headlines for issuing a warning to the newly appointed head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks. This time he is making the headlines for his comments on the Pelican’s star Zion Williamson.

Smith’s comments came after the Pelicans lost to the Miami Heat in their recent matchup. However, the Pelicans were not in the mood to take Smith’s criticism of the star player lightly. They have clapped back at his words on social media with a response of their own.

Stephen A Smith goes in on Zion Williamson

Stephen A Smith went after the Pelicans star Zion Williamson after his team failed to secure a win against the Miami Heat. The match was filled with a lot of chaos as fights broke out between the players after a foul on Williamson.

Several players were ejected because of the scuffle which included Thomas Bryant, Jose Alvarado, and Heat star Jimmy Butler. Zion scored 23 points in the game but Smith did not let him go with that performance and went after him.

“It is not about his game. It is about how many burgers he has been eating. Whether he is going to be in shape or just keep eating McDonald’s… That is what he has to prove, that the chefs do not love him any longer,” said Smith.

The popular analyst commented on Zion’s unhealthy eating habits and blamed it for his depreciating figure. This is not the first time he has called him fat or out of shape and has criticized him for not taking care of his body.

Zion, whose future at the team is uncertain as of now, has been a regular target of criticism of the ESPN’s analyst. However, the Pelicans had enough as they decided to answer back to Smith’s words.

Pelicans clap back with ‘highlights’ of Stephen A Smith

The New Orleans Pelicans had enough of Stephen A Smith’s yapping and decided to clap back at his words. They posted a highlight reel of some of the worst moments of Smith’s career and his participation in sports events. The video featured embarrassing moments of the ESPN analyst where he can be seen making a clown of himself.

They also posted a photo of Smith from his playing days and also featured his stats as a player. They embarrassed him by mentioning Smith’s time as a player in the 1990-91 season, where he averaged 1.5 points per game and a measly 1 assist. Smith hasn’t responded to the Pelicans’ embarrassing posts; instead, he has remained silent for the time being. However, nothing can be said about the future.

What do you think about Stephen A Smith’s comments on Zion Williamson? Do you think that Smith should talk a bit less when his career was not very successful? We are eager to know your thoughts, so drop down in the comments and let us know.

  1. It’s just what SAS needed from the Pelicans, better recognize these franchises are heavily invested in their star players, and won’t allow media reps to be overly critical of their players and organization, and in this case SAS may give pause before harshly and unduly critiquing another star powered NBA player.
