The NBA trade deadline is getting closer, and the Warriors trade rumors are all over the place. The head coach of the Dubs recently addressed those rumors and made comments about the situation of Chris Paul and Gary Payton II.
The Warriors are not doing very well in the league right now and are a shadow of their former selves. Much of the Dubnation believes that they need to make some crucial decisions before the trade deadline if they hope to make it to the playoffs this season.
Uncertainty surrounding Chris Paul’s future in GSW
Chris Paul, who arrived at Bay Area earlier this season, has been a great addition to the squad ever since his arrival. However, injuries have held him back from unleashing his full potential on the court. Earlier in January, CP3 suffered a hand fracture, which contributed to the struggles of the team. He has played a total of 32 games for the Dubs this season but his return remains uncertain for now.
Amid his injury, there have also been Warriors trade rumors surrounding the star which suggested that CP3 could be traded just after staying 6 months in the Bay Area. However, Steve Kerr has addressed those rumors and shot them down. He reportedly said, “We are not going to find better players than those guys in trade. It is exceedingly rare to make a deal where you can upgrade your talent to a similar level.”
Warriors to make crucial decisions within the tread deadline
The NBA trade deadline is approaching and it is now certain that the Dubs need to make some crucial decisions related to their roster if they want to make it to the playoffs this time. It is been reported that the core of Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, and Jonathan Kuminga will remain intact and unavailable for trade. In addition to that Steve Kerr’s statements have also ruled out Chris Paul and Gary Payton II from the list.
The remaining players on the squad could see a potential trade before the trade deadline. Andre Wiggins especially is a chip that the Dubs can use to explore the trade market. Wiggins has been featured in many Warriors trade rumors that have suggested that the Dubs could trade him to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Dejounte Murray. However, that won’t be an easy fight for the Dubs as many teams including the Bucks and the Lakers have also shown interest in Murray.
