The Denver Broncos have been no stranger to the spotlight in recent months, first with the saga surrounding veteran quarterback Russell Wilson and now with the focus shifting to wide receiver Courtland Sutton.
With less than a week until the 2024 NFL draft, reports have surfaced indicating that the Broncos have received multiple trade inquiries regarding Sutton. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, several teams have expressed interest in acquiring the receiver, but the Broncos have no intentions of parting ways with the talented receiver.
Sutton recently started skipping voluntary workouts due to contract concerns. As a veteran X receiver, Sutton has consistently delivered on the field, even amidst quarterback instability. His ability to maintain a high level of production has made him an essential part of the Broncos’ offense.
While reports suggest that Sutton is seeking a new contract and feeling uncertain about his future with the team, many report already have started to suggest potential destinations for Sutton, including the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Steelers emerge as a potential suitor for Courtland Sutton
With the Pittsburgh Steelers in need of a No. 2 receiver following the departure of Diontae Johnson earlier this offseason, all eyes turned to Courtland Sutton, especially after his cryptic IG post.
Sutton’s potential fit with the Steelers stems from his impressive track record as one of Russell Wilson’s top targets during his tenure with the Broncos, per Steelers Depot. Having established chemistry with Wilson, Sutton could seamlessly transition into the Steelers’ offense and serve as a reliable No. 2 option alongside top receivers.
The familiarity between the receiver and the quarterback can be a significant advantage for the Steelers, as Mike Tomlin looks to bolster their receiving corps. Nevertheless, Broncos head coach Sean Payton and general manager George Paton have reassured him that he remains a key part of their plans.
