Wrestling fans look forward to the annual Hall of Fame event as a way to celebrate the careers of WWE’s greatest icons. This year’s event kicked off memorably with a compelling speech from Paul Heyman. Despite the excitement, The Undertaker advocates against scheduling the Hall of Fame ceremony shortly after the SmackDown because it may be overwhelming.
Two weeks have passed since the WWE’s biggest event of the year, WrestleMania 40, which left an unforgettable impression on fans. The Undertaker recently discussed his time at WrestleMania on the “Six Feet Under” podcast. He loved the show, but he was worried about how everything would fit on different days in a single week.
Speaking on the “Six Feet Under” podcast per NODQ, he complained about how hard it is that SmackDown and the Hall of Fame events happen right after each other during WrestleMania week.
He said, “So, Friday I had to get up early and go to Wells Fargo for Hall of Fame rehearsals. I went over there, did rehearsals, and then came back for a couple of hours and turned right back around and went back to the Hall of Fame. I was there forever. They gotta figure that out because that’s a really really long night between SmackDown and then the Hall of Fame.”
Many fans were excited when The Undertaker showed up out of the blue during the main event of night two, but people had mixed feelings when he showed up at the Hall of Fame ceremony. His decision to induct a boxing icon into the Hall of Fame was met with criticism from some fans.
The Undertaker faced backlash for inducting Muhammad Ali
It was an honor for The Undertaker to induct Muhammad Ali into the WWE Hall of Fame. While speaking on the “Six Feet Under” podcast, he thanked the hosts for the chance and lauded Ali for his impact on the sporting world and society. On the other hand, he was honest about the backlash he got for being Ali’s inductor.
The Deadman said, “I got a little heat from part of the veteran community. For people that don’t know, Muhammad Ali refused to go into the Army. He didn’t want to go to Vietnam…he ended up losing everything.”
