“This love that I needed”: Jake Paul reveals eye-opening psychedelic experience ahead of fight vs Andre August

Jake Paul, the YouTuber-turned-boxer, had his next fight announced against professional boxer, Andre August. Paul, who in his recent bout, defeated Nate Diaz, is now focused on enhancing his professional boxing career by fighting actual boxers and not MMA veterans.

In his latest podcast appearance on Aubrey Marcus’ podcast, The Problem Child vividly described the psychedelic experience he went through recently. Paul was awestruck by the experience and had many things to say about it to Marcus.

Jake Paul opens up about his psychedelic experience

Jake Paul, also known as The Problem Child, has been a disruptive force in the crossover boxing circuit. In addition to his career as an influencer, Paul has embraced combat sports, accumulating 7 wins and a single defeat. It’s noteworthy that five of these victories came against MMA veterans.

Recently featured on Aubrey Marcus’ podcast, Paul shared his experience with Ayahuasca, a potent psychoactive brew with roots in the Amazon rainforest, traditionally used by indigenous tribes like the Shipibo and Shuar. This powerful concoction includes DMT (dimethyltryptamine), inducing profound psychedelic experiences.

“It takes this mirror, and there’s this motherly essence to the medicine. The mother starts to show you these things, things that you did that you need to look at in an abstract way. Each time it’s different, but it paints out a scenario for you. It doesn’t show you the exact lesson because it’s not like a language, like, ‘What does Mother Ayahuasca speak? English?’ No, it shows you a scenario, if you will,” said Paul about using the drug.

Paul then further added, “So, it was showing me the scenarios of how I’ve acted, and it brought up very specific situations that I had completely forgotten about. It made me take a hard look at some of those situations. The big thing was me being snarky sometimes to people. Sometimes I’d just snap, and it’s like, ‘Why? Why do you do this?'”

Paul was obviously very much interested in using the drug again looking from the way he experienced using it. Interestingly, Marcus too had used the drug and had a similar psychedelic experience. Nevertheless, whether it will make Paul competent enough to fulfill his dream of becoming a boxing world champion remains to be seen.

Jake Paul speaks on fighting Andre August for free

Despite participating in 8 boxing matches, Jake Paul has headlined 6 pay-per-view (PPV) events. As a YouTube sensation, Paul draws a viewership distinct from traditional boxing fans. Over his boxing career, he has collaborated with networks such as Triller, Showtime, ESPN+, and DAZN.

In 6 fights, he has generated a combined 2,75,000 PPV buys and $152,882,000 in revenue. His biggest PPV was against Tommy Fury and it did 800,000 PPV buys and his most recent fight against Nate Diaz, it did 450,000 PPV buys. From the facts, it is evident that Paul is a bigger PPV star than many of the top boxers.

However, Paul’s upcoming bout against Andre August will not be a PPV event. Logan Paul, Jake’s older brother and WWE wrestling champion, recently quizzed about the fight not being on PPV. “This is the road and the path to the world championship, and it’s not about business anymore. It’s not about entertainment,” Paul replied.

He further added, “It’s about me gaining experience in the ring and facing boxers with more experience than me so that one day I could challenge for the world championship belt.” Paul has an interest in fighting Saul “Canelo” Alvarez for the title but the Mexican undisputed champion waved it off. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen whether Paul can become a champion by forging his own unlikely path.
