Tim McKyer arrest: 3-time Super Bowl Champion avoids jail time with minor penalties

Following their disappointing loss in Super Bowl LVIII, being a target of the “Kirk Cousins Curse,” the San Francisco 49ers faced additional challenges this offseason due to a payroll oversight. Amid these team struggles, the team’s former Super Bowl-winning defensive lineman, Tim McKyer, found himself at the center of off-field controversy.

Nevertheless, McKyer managed to avoid jail time by accepting minor penalties for his actions, bringing a sense of relief amidst the turmoil.

Tim McKyer avoids jail time over hit-and-run case

Former NFL player Tim McKyer recently settled his hit-and-run case after reportedly facing potential jail time. According to court records, McKyer agreed to enter a pretrial diversion program, which entails completing 16 hours of community service, attending four hours of defensive driving courses, paying a $100 fee, and maintaining good behavior, per Daily Mail.

As part of the agreement, authorities will drop the charges against McKyer if he successfully fulfills the requirements of the program. A hearing has been scheduled for late May to assess McKyer’s compliance with the terms.

The case stemmed from an alleged incident in a Riviera Beach, Florida, parking garage on February 19th, where McKyer was charged with five counts of leaving the scene of an accident with property damage.

A police investigation revealed that he backed his Tesla into a parking space on a different floor of the garage and left without reporting the damage.

The 60-year-old reportedly showed signs of alcohol consumption and had balance issues after being located by police. He was subsequently taken into custody and later admitted to being the sole driver of the vehicle involved in the incident after being transported to the hospital.
