“Tom Brady has no business being in the same sentence as Lionel Messi”: NFL analyst faces severe backlash following undermining soccer GOAT

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ former veteran Tom Brady would obviously rank high on the fan-favorite list while the conversation is solely about NFL. However, recently a top-tier NFL analyst brought an unintentional comparison between Brady and Lionel Messi by taking a subtle dig at the Soccer star.

Messi’s Miami debut has been a long-awaited event for many soccer fans around the world. He had a phenomenal debut in the US by leading Inter Miami to clinch a last-minute 2-1 victory over Cruz Azul in front of many A-list celebrities including Kim Kardashian, Lebron James, Serena Williams as well as David Beckham’s family.

Twitteratis swarm NFL analyst for not knowing Messi

The soccer fans inside DRV PNK Stadium started chanting Messi’s name when he was given the go-signal to appear on the field as a substitute. The world cup champion entered the match with Miami holding a 1-0 advantage and ultimately grabbed victory for his new team.

Just after the Argentine forward set foot in the MLS, the NFL analyst Joe Goodberry disheartened the soccer legend’s fans by tweeting a post saying he doesn’t know him.

The tweet quickly went viral and ‘La Pulga’ fans started to throw jabs at NFL and NBA stars to compare Messi’s worth. A netizen wrote, “Never too late to start following the 🐐 in any sport 💯.”

One user wrote, “No hate but that’s crazy, he’s legitimately more popular than LeBron James and Tom Brady combined.”

However, Brady, LeBron, and Messi are from different sports backgrounds and they all are considered GOAT contenders in their respective fields. One fan even went as far as to say, “In terms of global interest Brady has no business being in the same sentence as Messi.”

Tom Brady welcomes Messi to US despite not being present for debut

Messi officially joined the Miami-based club in July on a two-and-a-half-year contract, bringing one of the world’s best soccer players to the MLS. Tom Terrific, an avid fan of Leo, was featured in a tribute video along with Stephen Curry and producer DJ Khaled to welcome the forward to Inter Miami.

“Leo, I wanted to say congratulations on the big move to Miami”, the ex-Bucs star said.

The California Cool had heaped praise on Leo ahead of the Super Bowl back in 2018, saying he couldn’t get to watch Maradona’s game but Messi’s athleticism obviously amused him,

“I love Messi, he is a great player; however, I am a little older than him. I love soccer, I’ve watched it for a long time and I’m not old enough to have watched Maradona, that’s probably for previous generations. I admire him, he’s a great athlete.”
