Tottenham’s injury situation goes bad to worst with latest inclusion of Richarlison after Micky van de Ven, James Maddison pick up injuries in London derby

Tottenham Hotspur enjoyed a promising start to the season under the guidance of manager Ange Postecoglou. However, this positive momentum may be at risk of being cut short as the team grapples with a series of injuries and suspensions.

Tottenham experienced their first defeat of the season in the match against Chelsea, and this loss cannot be attributed to Chelsea’s excellence but rather to Tottenham’s issues with injuries and suspensions. Unfortunately, the situation has taken a turn for the worse, with Brazilian forward Richarlison now sidelined due to a long-term injury.

Tottenham injury concerns grow with Richarlison

Tottenham’s injury woes continue to worsen, with the recent addition of Richarlison to the list of injured players. This setback comes on the heels of injuries to Micky van de Ven and James Maddison in a London derby. Richarlison has confirmed that he will undergo surgery on his pelvis in the near future, further contributing to Tottenham’s growing injury list.

Under the guidance of their new manager, Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham enjoyed a stellar start to the season, securing victory in eight of their first 11 Premier League matches. This impressive form placed them just one point behind league leaders Manchester City. However, they encountered a significant setback with a disappointing 4-1 home defeat to Chelsea on Monday.

Before the Chelsea match, Tottenham were considered the favourite to win in light of their recent outstanding form. However, things went sideways for Tottenham as soon as they were faced with suspensions and injuries. Against all odds, Tottenham held on during the game till their defence gave way in the second half. Now, the situation is certainly worse with Richarlison’s injury complications.

Brazilian international Richarlison was initially left on the bench by manager Ange Postecoglou as he aimed to reorganize his squad following the absence of four key players due to injuries. It has now come to light that Richarlison is contending with a pelvis injury and intends to undergo surgery to address the issue. He disclosed this information after being excluded from Brazil’s squad for the international fixtures scheduled for November.

Richarlison shared his challenges with ESPN, stating, “The last few months haven’t been easy for me. I’ve had health problems. I’ve already spoken to the doctors, and soon I will undergo surgery on my pubis.”

He acknowledged the toll that months of fighting for both his national team and club have taken on his well-being, saying, “I’ve been suffering, fighting for my national team and my club for eight months and haven’t been taking care of myself. I think it’s time to rest, to pause for a moment. I’ll contemplate my options in the coming days, and soon I will do what is best for me.”

Tottenham injuries and suspensions ahead of Wolves fixture

Tottenham finds themselves in a challenging predicament as they approach a demanding stretch of fixtures that could significantly impact the remainder of their season. This situation has unfolded in the aftermath of a contentious London derby encounter with Chelsea, living up to its reputation for the intensity and rivalry between the two sides.

Tottenham experienced a double setback in their match against Chelsea as both Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie received red cards and are now set to serve suspensions. Additionally, the team faced injuries to Micky van de Ven (hamstring) and James Maddison (ankle) during Monday’s game, compounding their challenges.

In the coming stretch of fixtures, Tottenham will have to do without the likes of Micky Van de Ven, who has pulled up with what appears to be a hamstring injury. James Madison was also withdrawn in the clash with Chelsea because he had taken a knock to his ankle, though the club is hopeful that he will recover in time.

Ben Davies is also injured, and apart from him, there are sidelined long absences like Ivan Perisic, Manor Solomon, Ryan Sessegnon and now Richarlison.

Christian Romero and Destiny Udogie have been suspended, meaning that they will also miss coming games.
