It’s no surprise that PSG and Kylian Mbappe have been involved in a back-and-forth for a few years now. The Frenchman was forced to train with the second team earlier this season due to his refusal to commit to a long-term contract with the French club or at least show he could end up at the club for years to come.
Mbappe was reinstated, and he hasn’t looked back since, with several goals and assists for the club in all competitions this season. However, his time at PSG is now hanging in the balance, as his long-awaited decision on the next step in his career has been taken and communicated to the PSG president.
Kylian Mbappe rumored to leave PSG
It’s official, Kylian Mbappe has reportedly informed PSG he would be leaving on a free transfer at the end of the season, as reported in grand style by legendary Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano, who broke the big news on his social media yesterday.
Kylian Mbappe has long held all the cards about his future. He almost joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2022 but ended up signing a new two-year contract extension at PSG, leaving the French club to be confident of being able to keep their star player for many years to come.
Sadly, less than a year after losing World Cup winner Lionel Messi and his former Barcelona teammate Neymar in the same transfer window, Kylian Mbappe, the last of the club’s formidable front three, is now set to depart at the end of the season to any club of his, most likely Real Madrid, who have been on his case for a few years now.
Real Madrid to offer lowered wages to Kylian Mbappe
It’s a happy time for Real Madrid fans, who have long dreamed of having a team with Kylian Mbappe leading the line. Despite the initial setbacks in the pursuit of the former Monaco youngster, Perez had always been confident he could convince the player to join the most successful club in Europe, and that can be highlighted by his refusal to sign a recognized replacement for Karim Benzema, who joined the Saudi Pro League last summer.
However, with Mbappe having informed PSG of his intention to leave the club at the end of the season, Real Madrid are now playing hardball with the Frenchman, offering him a contract with significantly lower numbers than what was offered to him two years ago.
This means lower wages, reportedly less than what he’s currently earning at PSG, which could annoy Mbappe, causing him to explore other options. Nevertheless, Real Madrid have come too far to give up, so it’s more likely that Los Blancos will keep trying to meet the Frenchman’s demands. The Spanish giants now have the chance to bring in a real Galactico after the signing of Eden Hazard in 2019.
