Transfer rumor: PSG eyeing Manchester City target Joshua Kimmich

The winter transfer market is heating up in the second week of the January window, with clubs going head-to-head in the race to lure potential targets. The English champions Manchester City are aiming to bolster their roster, with interest focused on Barcelona’s €1 billion midfielder, Pedri.

Another star player on the shopping list of the treble winner is Bayern Munich’s ace midfielder, Joshua Kimmich. However, the competition is quite intense for the German international, as other European heavyweights, such as Paris Saint-Germain, are also interested in securing his signature ahead of City.

PSG target Joshua Kimmich in reported swap deal

Reportedly, Ligue 1 champions PSG are exploring potential dealings with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich for their key player, as Thomas Tuchel is keen to bring French defender Nordi Mukiele to Germany this January because their first-choice left-back, Noussair Mazraoui, is set to participate in AFCON 2024 to represent Morocco.

The former RB Leipzig man is likely to join the Bavarians on a loan spell until the end of the season, with a potential option for a permanent move in the summer. The 26-year-old, who is versatile and can play as a center-back, full-back, and wide midfielder, however, has rarely been given opportunities under Luis Enrique.

Moreover, the French outfit is also hoping to include the German star Joshua Kimmich in Mukiele’s deal with Bayern. The reports suggest that Parisians are considering the option to trade their defender in exchange for Kimmich, however, the chances of it happening are quite low, considering his market value and demand among top clubs.

On the other hand, PSG will be witnessing the departure of their talisman, the number seven, Kylian Mbappe, who is speculated to move to Real Madrid. It has been reportedly confirmed that his current contract is set to expire in the summer of 2024, with no indication of an extension for his stay.

As he enters the final year of his current contract with the Bavarians and appears unlikely to extend it, Pep Guardiola, who has previously worked with Joshua Kimmich during his managerial tenure in Munich, aims to bring the player to the Etihad in the summer. As per the report, to secure his services, the Citizens will have to meet a £50 million clause.
