Manchester City ace striker Erling Haaland has taken the world by storm, establishing himself as a player destined for greatness. In his debut Premier League campaign, he became the club’s most successful signing by clinching the Golden Boot, breaking numerous records, and leading the club to achieve the Treble.
Haaland’s achievements on the European scoring charts have exceeded those of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo at 23, setting new records. Subsequently, the Norwegian star emerged as a target for Real Madrid, alongside Kylian Mbappé. However, now another Spanish giant is keen on making a potential move.
Barcelona interested to bring in Erling Haaland
Erling Haaland, who joined the English champions in 2022 from Dortmund after proving his skills in Germany for a €60 million fee, made an immense impact in no time under the guidance of Pep Guardiola. The Norwegian has now apparently garnered significant attention from Barcelona’s management.
According to recent developments from Spain, Deco, Barcelona’s sporting director was spotted holding a meeting with Rafaela Pimenta, who has been working as Erling Haaland’s agent and representative. It is said that the striker is a dream target for Joan Laporta, who attempted to sign him in 2022.
Gerard Romero’s Spanish outlet Jijantes FC released a clip showing Pimenta entering a building with Maxwell, a former Barça player, to discuss with Deco the possibility of the Golden Boot winner transferring to Camp Nou. Besides Haaland’s potential move, other clients represented by Pimenta were the topic of discussion in this meeting on Wednesday.
A recent Jijantes FC post claimed on X, “Deco, the Barça sports director, met today with Rafaela Pimenta and Maxwell, among many others, to discuss the future of the Norwegian forward, Haaland, a great dream of Laporta, among other topics at the meal.”
Erling Haaland only PL player to score five goals across all competitions
The mighty Manchester City thrashed Luton Town 6-2 at Kenilworth Road in the fifth round of the FA Cup 2023/24 on Tuesday. The current title holders cemented their place in the quarterfinal, where they are scheduled to face Newcastle United.
It was a goal fest from the visitors, with Erling Haaland’s prolific scoring rampage overwhelming the hosts by netting a five-goal haul, and one goal contributed by Kovacic.
The 23-year-old striker registered his eighth hat-trick for the UCL Champions and became the only player for Manchester City to achieve an exceptional five-goal tally twice, previously accomplishing this feat in the UEFA Champions League against RB Leipzig in March 2023.
Moreover, he is the first player to do so for a top-division club since George Best in 1970. Notably, four out of Haaland’s five goals were assisted by none other than their creative genius, Kevin De Bruyne. With his latest performance, the Norwegian international has scored 27 goals so far this season across all competitions.
