Trent Alexander Arnold is a man on a mission for Liverpool, becoming their hero in one of their most crucial periods. The wingback has been great in his role for Jurgen Klopp’s team and has come up clutch in order to bring some crucial points in their bid to win the Premier League.
Trent had scored a crucial equalizer against defending champions Manchester City, who faced a huge error in their game against Tottenham, to ensure they went home with a point. And yesterday he scored the winner in the 4-3 win against Fulham, further helping their quest to advance upwards in the Premier League.
Trent Alexander Arnold reveals Virgil Van Dijk’s reason for unhappiness
Trent Alexander-Arnold was the crucial element in the victory, scoring an important and dramatic late winner in yesterday’s game. However, despite being the reason for the dramatic scenes at Anfield, he has revealed that captain Virgil van Dijk was not happy with him, although for a hilarious reason.
After he had scored the winning goal, Trent had gone to the corner flag in a chest-dive manner, while his other teammates, including Van Dijk, followed with knee slides.
After the game, Trent Alexander-Arnold revealed that Van Dijk was not happy with him due to the Dutchman being injured due to the knee slide: “Virgil Van Dijk is not happy with me! Heās got a cut on his knee! Thatās why he doesnāt knee-slide.”
He also explained Van Dijk’s passion for the team, as he is not known for knee sliding very often: “For somebody like him whoās very calm to be the one thatās knee sliding when heās not even the one that scoredā¦ shows how much it meant to the team.”
Liverpool inch closer to league leaders Arsenal
Fulham had conceded the first goal with a Bernd Leno goal, but Harry Wilson soon equalized. Alexis Mac Allister then scored a banger goal from outside the box, but the visitors again responded with a Kenny Tete strike right at halftime.
Fulham managed to get the lead in the 80th minute thanks to Bobby De Cordova-Reid, before new signing Wataru Endo equalized again. But it was Trent who scored cleverly from a previous saved shot right before full time to bring home all three points.
The win means that Jurgen Klopp’s men are now second in the Premier League table with 31 points, just two points behind league leader Arsenal. They will hope to continue their winning ways if they wish to win the Premier League this season. Their next game is against Sheffield United away on Thursday, and Trent Alexander-Arnold will want to be their hero once again.
