WWE’s one of the biggest match was set yesterday, as the COO of WWE, officially confirmed the dream match between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns for the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship at WrestleMania 40. Confirmation came during the WrestleMania 40 Kickoff press conference in Los Angeles, which concluded in a controversial manner due to The Rock’s involvement.
During today’s episode of SmackDown, Triple H made an appearance and discussed the chaos that transpired during the press conference and also made a huge announcement for WrestleMania 40.
Triple H on The Rock’s influence to change WWE decisions
Triple H kicked off today’s SmackDown on Peacock along with Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis, the general managers of RAW and Smackdown. Without wasting any time, Triple H directly went against the actions and tensions that was caused by The Rock in the press conference.
Triple H said, “There are some many people’s in the back there, the decision will disappoint them, maybe they don’t like the decision. It doesn’t matter If you don’t like the decision. So with that said, welcome to the road to WrestleMania 40.”
Triple H delivered a direct jab at The Rock, using his own catchphrase, “It doesn’t matter.” This catchphrase was extensively employed by The Rock during his early WWE days, where he would interrupt and mock opponents or interviewers. Triple H stood firm against The Rock’s demands, asserting that he, not The Rock, was the one making final decisions in WWE.
However, one of the reasons for Triple H’s rage is also beleived to be the Rock’s involvement in the creative decisions of WWE. The Rock, who became the board of directors in TKO, reportedly involved in the creative decisions without the knowledge of Triple H. But, today’s segment confirms that The Game still hold the control of the operations of the WWE and no one can replace him in the position.
Triple H confirms Roman Reigns vs Cody Rhodes for WM40
The highly anticipated main event of WrestleMania 40 is now confirmed. After weeks of controversy, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul Levesque, announced that Roman Reigns will defend his WWE Universal Championship against Cody Rhodes at the grandest stage of them all.
Triple H took to Twitter and made the official announcement, stating that Rhodes will have the opportunity to conclude his story with Reigns at WrestleMania 40. He also posted a picture of the WrestleMania 40 poster, featuring Reigns and Rhodes.
This decision came after a heated press conference in Las Vegas, where The Tribal Chief declared that he wanted to face Dwayne Johnson, his cousin, who has been challenging him for months. However, Rhodes, who won the Royal Rumble for the second consecutive year, interrupted The Rock and claimed his right to challenge Reigns.
With everything in place, WrestleMania 40 will be the climax of all the drama, that has unfolded over the past year, offering Rhodes a final chance to finish his story.
