Triple H finally addresses his feelings about Cody Rhodes’ throne-breaking incident at AEW

Cody Rhodes came back to WWE in 2022 and is one of the big names currently in WWE. The American Nightmare had a great run during his tenure at Tony Khan’s AEW before he returned to the Stamford-based company.

During his time in All Elite Wrestling (AEW), Cody Rhodes played a gimmick of open defiance towards WWE. Cody did everything possible to show his hate for WWE and at that time, he destroyed Triple H’s throne during AEW Double Or Nothing 2019. Recently, “The Cerebral Assassin,” Triple H, addressed his feelings about the throne-breaking incident at AEW.

Triple H breaks silence over Cody Rhodes’ throne-breaking segment

Triple H is the CCO (chief content officer) of WWE and he mostly handles the creative sector of the company. A little while back, ‘The Game’ appeared on Allan & Carly, where he was asked about Cody Rhodes breaking his throne in AEW.

To which he replied, “I laughed about it then! Look, people make that stuff out to be so much more than it is. To me, if I was in his shoes, I’d have done the same thing. It’s one of the things I love about Cody – I’ve watched Cody go from being a kid in this business, and I don’t mean that as disrespectfully, just literally a kid. His dad was in some way a mentor to me. We started NXT together. He was a big part of that system. I learned a lot from Dusty and sort of sitting under his learning tree as well, and we had a wonderful partnership.”

Hunter Hearst Helmsley continued, “And to see (Cody) grow from literally this kid to coming in, trying to find his way in the business and come out of his dad’s shadow, which was monumental. Then gambling on himself to go find himself and go find who he was.”

Cody Rhodes’ journey from being released to headlining back-to-back WM

Cody Rhodes parted ways with WWE in May 2016. The departure was due to Cody’s frustration with WWE’s creative team about the Stardust gimmick. Rhodes wanted to play something that resonated with his personality but his request was declined. The American Nightmare pleaded with the WWE writers for 6 months straight to end his gimmick, and after a while, he decided to leave the company to start anew.

Cody started on the independent circuit, where he wrestled under the name Cody. For 5 years, Cody performed in other promotions like NJPW, Impact Wrestling, and ROH. Cody was a one-time ROH World Champion, a one-time ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champion, and a one-time IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion. Rhodes’s contract with ROH ended in 2019 and later he joined Tony Khan’s new company.

In January 2019, the 38-year-old joined AEW as the executive vice president, where he also performed as a wrestler. After leaving AEW, he returned to WWE again and faced Seth Rollins as his surprise opponent at WrestleMania 38. Combining every promotion he was a part of, like WWE, AEW, NJPW, NWA, and ROH, Cody Rhodes became a 15-time championship holder, which also included two world titles.

Cody Rhodes is scheduled to face ‘The Tribal Chief’ Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 and fans are excited to see the superstar finally getting to ‘Finish his Story’. WrestleMania 40 will be held at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The WWE Universe is anticipating how the match will conclude—will Cody win or will a variable like The Rock cost him his second chance.
