Triple H reacts to Trick Williams ending Ilja Dragunov’s NXT title reign

Trick Williams whooped Ilja Dragunov to become the new NXT Champion at NXT Spring Breakin’ on Tuesday. This can surely put the speculations of Trick Williams entering the WWE Draft to rest.

Speaking of NXT, Triple H took to social media to react to Trick’s major win. The Game congratulated the fantasy DX member for his success and predicted a bright title reign for Trick. Hunter also gave a shout-out to the fallen Ilja Dragunov, who will now possibly head to the main roster.

In the hard-fought match, Trick Williams brought out all the tools, including one of his opponent’s. Williams nailed an H-Bomb on Ilja only for the former champion to kick out. With Booker T at the ringside, Trick put Ilja through a table using a Book End from the barricades.

After multiple near falls, the pair repeated their NXT Vengeance Day sequence by standing across the corners of the ring to charge in with their finishers. Only this time Trick was the first one to land the blow to pick up the victory.

After the match, just like Triple H, Trick Williams also had a few words to share.

Trick Williams shares pictures from title photoshoot

Trick Williams after the match posted several pictures on his social media handle. The new champ is seen posing with the tile with the caption, “Let’s talk about it.”

Trick wasn’t the only one posting pictures though, as his former buddy Carmelo Hayes also reacted to the title change. Melo posted a picture of him and Trick shaking hands from their early days in NXT 2.0, implying his respect for Trick’s journey to the championship.

With the WWE Draft coming up on Saturday and next Monday on WWE SmackDown and WWE RAW respectively, Carmelo is a potential candidate to join the main roster. A lot of talents from both brands appeared on Tuesday night’s show, including WWE Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest who had a brief backstage moment with Ilja Dragunov. With Trick Williams becoming the face of NXT, the dynamics on all three brands are set to change after the 2024 WWE Draft.
