Cody Rhodes won it all at WrestleMania XL when he defeated Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship. This win is very important because it comes in the footsteps of his father, Dusty Rhodes, who never held the famous WWE Championship. To mark this important event, Triple H gave Cody a special gift: a Rolex watch. Later on, he explained why they chose this particular present, highlighting its importance in honoring Cody’s incredible victory.
During the post-show press conference, Cody Rhodes recalled a heartwarming experience after his WrestleMania victory. He spoke up about the unique gifts he received from Triple H, Nick Khan, and Bruce Prichard in memory of his late father, Dusty Rhodes. He said with tears in his eyes, “They handed me this watch, which is the same one my dad had pawned so I could pursue acting school.”
He also talked about how important this act was and promised to respect it by paying it forward many times.
Later in the conference, Triple H followed up on Cody Rhodes’ revelation and shared the story behind finding the watch. He said, “It was Nick’s idea. Nick had this amazing idea, and I’m just along for the ride a little bit. Nick’s idea, I thought it was great. Bruce went and super sleuthed down this watch that was the exact same watch that Dusty had to present to Cody, and we wanted to give him something that in some way commemorated his dad being here when this happened.”
Undoubtedly, Cody Rhodes becomes a significant draw for the organization with his victory at the Universal title. So, he has a busy month ahead of him, as WWE has just confirmed his appearances to keep fans hyped.
