Tua Tagovailoa is gearing up for another NFL season with the Miami Dolphins. Meanwhile, his younger brother, Taulia Tagovailoa, is making waves of his own as he prepares for the 2024 NFL Draft.
Taulia’s journey to the draft hasn’t been without its twists and turns, including a decision to enter the transfer portal to seek more opportunities to hone his skills on the field. Amid the uncertainty, one constant remains, which is the unwavering support of his older brother, Tua.
The Dolphins star opened up about the invaluable role Taulia plays in his life in a recent interview, describing his brother as a pillar of support and encouragement.
“I would say, for me and my brother’s relationship, especially now as we’re older and as he’s sort of stepping into the territory that I’m in or at least having that opportunity while he’s been in college and I’ve been in the NFL, really the support that he gives me has really just been like, in a way, one of my No. 1 fans, one of my number one cheerleaders or hype guys if you will,” Tua told Fox News.
Tua’s admiration for his brother’s positivity and encouragement is evident as he recounts Taulia’s habit of reaching out after games to highlight the positives.
“It’s been a lot of, he calls me after a game just to tell me how good this way, how good that was. And really, he never has anything flawed to say to me about my performances.”
Tua is equally committed to supporting Taulia in his endeavors. He offered constructive feedback and encouragement to help him reach his full potential. The NFL star also provided valuable draft advice to his younger brother ahead of the highly competitive event.
What draft advice Tua Tagovailoa has for his brother?
Tua Tagovailoa has offered valuable suggestions to Taulia Tagovailoa, which is honed from his personal experience. The No. 5 pick in the 2020 draft, understands the pressure and anticipation surrounding the draft process, especially as it differs from his own journey.
Taulia is projected as a late-round selection or might even go undrafted. Tua said his brother that success in the NFL is not solely about draft position but about finding the perfect match between player and team culture.
“My advice to brother is, dude, the right team is going to pick you. You just be yourself. If you know this team doesn’t see fit, like, that’s not the right team for you. The right team will find you. The right team will pick you and you will go to the team that best fits your personality, your play style and they wouldn’t pick you if that didn’t intertwine with one another because they already know you’re a good football player,” he said per Fox News.
Tua ensured that Taulia is prepared for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. He wants to guide his brother through the complexities of professional football following draft process.
“That’s sort of my advice. Everything will take of itself. The process is tough as it is. It’s a long road ahead if he does get chosen…. There’s just a lot of things that he doesn’t know that I do share with him and we just dialog with each other about.”
Taulia’s path to the NFL has encountered obstacles during Pro Day as well. Reports indicate concerns regarding his arm strength and overall performance, raising questions about his draft stock. Now, it remains to be seen which team ultimately decides to pick him in the draft.
