Tyreek Hill defends Tua Tagovailoa, admits to running wrong route in spectacular TD

The Miami Dolphins, led by quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and wide receiver Tyreek Hill, have been in the run for the Super Bowl this season. Except for the unfortunate loss to the Kansas City Chiefs days ago, the team has been smashing its rivals, and that too by big scores.

With a 9-3 record, the Dolphins are proudly sitting atop the AFC East. Besides setting some incredible records, Tyreek Hill has been paving the way for the team to exploit the opponent’s defense. Apart from supporting Tua Tagovailoa on the field, the receiver also decided to showcase his immense support for his QB when the signal-caller was called upon on social media by a netizen.

Hill’s admission sets the record straight

The Week 13 game between the Dolphins and the Washington Commanders witnessed yet another mind-blowing performance from Tyreek Hill, despite grappling with injuries weeks ago. His exceptional athleticism and chemistry with Tua Tagovailoa were on full display, particularly during a spectacular 60-yard touchdown play.

The QB launched a seemingly misplaced pass downfield, albeit his WR adjusted his route effortlessly to compensate for the off-target throw with his agility and speed. The receiver ultimately managed to turn the play into a stunning long score to solidify his record of tracking down the ball.

The incident garnered attention from local Washington D.C. radio host Grant Paulsen. The veteran initially praised Hill’s incredible play but criticized Tua’s throw.

“This is one of the coolest plays I’ve seen live. I cannot stress how bad this throw was and how amazing this play by Hill is. He’s got Fuller beat so badly he just flips his hips and goes and get the ball over the wrong shoulder.”

However, the All-Pro WR took it upon himself to correct the narrative. He clarified Tagovailoa’s throw was intentional and said he himself had run the route incorrectly in a social media post.

“Bad take I ran my route wrong Tua threw that ball exactly where I was suppose to be . He noticed my angle put enough air time on it just to give me time to adjust.”

Tua’s overall performance was commendable against the Commanders, completing 18 of 24 passes for 280 yards and two touchdowns. Hill was also nothing short of spectacular as he amassed five receptions for 157 yards and two touchdowns during the game.

Meanwhile, the synergy between the signal-caller and receiver has become increasingly evident, with half of the QB’s 24 touchdown passes this season finding their mark in the WR’s hands.

Tyreek Hill foots the bill for suspended NFL content creator

During a remarkable 41-yard touchdown reception in Week 6, Tyreek Hill spotted content creator Kevin Fitzgibbons holding a phone. He took the phone and captured a thrilling POV video of himself executing a backflip.

This footage found its way onto the NFL UK’s social media page. Unfortunately, the NFL promptly deleted the video by labeling it a breach of celebration rules due to the use of external props.

The WR has been slapped with a penalty for it. The aftermath of this incident took another unexpected turn when Fitzgibbons disclosed via a viral social media post that he faced suspension from the NFL, potentially for the rest of the season due to his involvement in the celebratory video.

However, Hill showcased his unwavering support for the content creator by citing him as “his longtime friend”. In an interview, the vet displayed solidarity with Fitzgibbons by absolving him of any blame and offering encouragement.

“Me and K-Fitz, we’ve got a long history together. The news is something that I already knew. I told him, ‘Don’t let this get to you. Just hold your head up. You’re still young. Continue to do what you love.’ Me and him are going to continue to work together”, he said per Peta Pixel.

Despite the circumstances, the Dolphins star pledged to cover Fitzgibbons’ salary to ensure that his friend wouldn’t suffer due to the situation.

“I told him I was going to cover his salary, whatever the NFL was going to pay him or whatever. I told him I was going to make sure that I do what’s right and take care of you, make sure you’re not out of a job. That’s my guy.”

Starting from filming high school basketball games, Fitzgibbons’ progressed to working alongside NFL stars and eventually earned a position with the league. He got the chance to cover the Dolphins’ home game—a dream role for the 20-year-old photographer. The abrupt suspension turned his dream job into an uncertain future, which even sparked a Change.org petition demanding his reinstatement as the NFL videographer at Hard Rock Stadium.
