Tyreek Hill reveals facing criticism from HC Mike McDaniel following playoff performance against Chiefs

The Miami Dolphins are still feeling the sting of their playoff loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. The disappointment fell too heavy on head coach Mike McDaniel. The memory of their postseason defeat also lingers on wide receiver Tyreek Hill, who was recently honored by Pro Football Hall of Fame.

In a recent revelation on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast, Hill disclosed that McDaniel didn’t mince words in addressing his performance in the loss vs. Chiefs. Despite Cheetah’s role in securing the Dolphins’ only touchdown of the game with 5 catches for 62 yards, the HC pointedly expressed his dissatisfaction.

“Reek, you’re supposed to be the best player in the league, and you’ve got this guy putting hands all over you,” McDaniel said.

Hill played well in that match but his statistics did not actually reflect the impact expected of a player of his caliber in a postseason setting. With just 5 catches on 8 targets, Hill and the rest of the Dolphins offense struggled. This brings extra pain for Hill as he had to see his former team Chiefs to advance to the finale and clinch the Super Bowl title.

Tyreek Hill says it was difficult to watch Chiefs win Super Bowl LVIII after his trade

Tyreek Hill’s departure from the Chiefs after six impactful seasons left fans and teammates with mixed emotions. His dissatisfaction with his role and salary demands led him to the Dolphins, where he embarked on a new chapter in his career. However, his departure didn’t diminish his feelings watching them succeed.

The wide receiver admitted it was initially challenging for him to witness the Chiefs success.

“The first year that they went, me and my wife, we took a trip to Tokyo because it was kind of hard for me. I don’t want to look at no game, I don’t want to look at nothing. She was like ‘Babe, let’s just go to Tokyo, let’s just get away from it and let’s do our thing,'” he said.

However, as the Chiefs clinched their second consecutive Super Bowl victory, Cheetah found himself in a different mindset. He gracefully accepted the situation, and even rooted for them.

“The second year, this year when they won, I watched the whole game. I was like ‘Y’all gotta win this thing.’ You feel me? I’m cool now. But the first year it was kind of hard, trying to get over that hump of seeing the guys do their thing out there.”

Hill was traded to the Dolphins ahead of the 2022 season and missed the celebration of the Chiefs back-to-back Lombardi trophy. Patrick Mahomes is now eying for a historic three peat for the Chiefs while Hill will have to give effort to push his Dolphins to the Super Bowl race. However, Chiefs fans still want their fierce Cheetah to grace the defending champion’s jersey, which seems a bit impossible for now.
